In Her On Words: Darrielle McQueen - New Balance Nationals & The Week Ahead

Good evening! I hope everyone's season is going great thus far. With state only being a few weeks out now my goals are beginning to come to flourish. I'm very excited! This past weekend I competed in New York at the Armory for the New Balance Indoor Nationals. I had pretty descent competition days. On Saturday, I competed in long jump placing 7th with a distance of 19 feet even. I returned Sunday to place 2nd with a distance of 41 feet 3 and 3/4 inches which is a new personal record for me. In addition to my own personal record being set this past weekend, several meet records were also shattered and set this weekend. The new triple jump record was set by my National Scholastic Athletic Foundation(NSAF) teammate Keturah Orji with a leap of 44 feet 2 inches.

I enjoyed the new experiences from this weekend including my first indoor track and field meet as well as my first time being in New Jersey and New York. I was glad to see my former National Scholastic Athletic Foundation (NSAF) teammates from Puerto Rico and my current NSAF project triple jump teammates. Everyone performed very well.

As I continue training this week to make adjustments to my performances I am also preparing for this weekend as I compete at the Florida State relays. On Friday long jump will take place and on Saturday triple jump will conclude my weekend of competition. This weekend my goals are to jump a high 19 and for triple jump I would like to go mid 42 feet.

God speed and big jumps to everyone competing this weekend!
