Pasco sophomore Alfreda Steele picked up a very impressive win in the 100m ahead of Lake Highland's Deanna Hill, but HIll came back to edge Steele in the 200. 2A Region 3: Jesuit Boys Hold Fast, Academy Girls Throw Forward

If there was any chance the boys of Jesuit and the girls of Academy of the Holy Names could repeat their team titles from districts a week ago, things would have to go just right. They did. Even following the same trend that earned them district titles, the Jesuit boys dominated the field events and held on for the win, while the Academy girls trailed most of the way before storming ahead in the 3200m.

District competition has begun for the big schools throughout Florida. While the small schools begin the march toward Jacksonville with regional events being held this week, it’s merely the first step in that journey for the 3A & 4A schools. What strategies will the coaches pull to help advance their team to the next level? Athletes might wind up running a different program then they are used to, because even though we compete alone, the points count for our team.
