Ryan Gallaher 's cross country career began when he took up the sport after sustaining an injury on the lacrosse field . When flrunners.com first interviewed the then sophomore he was hoping to return to be able to run a 5k in the 19's and play lacrosse again in at Jensen Beach High School. He varsity lettered in both cross country and lacrosse that year as well as the following two years.
He says the the stamina and focus that he learned running cross country helped him push through some tough times related to ACL injuries. After Dr. James Andrews repaired his ACL's a year apart, Gallaher knew he had a long road ahead to finish High School achieving his dream of playing college athletics .On April 16th, the senior signed with Wheeling Jesuit University for an athletic scholarship.
All this just goes to show you that no matter what obstacles life hands you there are always avenues to overcome them!
