Salute To Seniors: Jerosan Fletcher - Gibbs High School

What was your most memorable race/moment?

My most memorable race was when I competed in the 400m dash at the 2A State Finals finishing fourth and setting a new personal best of 57.5.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

I would consider myself to be my biggest competition because no one can stop you from achieving a goal except yourself.

What was your greatest accomplishment?

My greatest accomplishment was being the Bright House Sports Network Student Athlete of the Week.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

If I could change something in my running career, I would change my work out habits.I would be more dedicated and hardworking and also to eat right.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

The most difficult obstacle was getting up early in the mornings to attend a track meet. I was never a morning person and I don’t ever believe I will become one.

What will I miss the most?

I will miss my teammates and my coach that kept me going and believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself.

What advice woudl you give to a younger athlete?

My advice to younger athlete is to eat right and keep focused on their goals. Don’t worry about everyone else and what they might have to say, because in the end you are your only competition and the only person that can stop you from succeeding.

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

My coach is a big influencer in my life. Whenever she sees me struggling or down she’s always there to pick me up and direct me into the path that I need to be. I’m very grateful for all the time she took out of her busy schedule just to ensure that things are going well for me.

What are your college plans?

Right now I’m contemplating on the college I want to attend. I haven’t made a solid decision as yet.

Who would you like to say thank you to?

First and foremost I’d like to give thanks to God who’s the head of my life, my family for being there for me, Coach Natalee Allen for her love and support, Coach Barber for being there for me whenever I need him, and everyone that has supported me. Thank you all.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I just want to say that track and field has taught me a lot including time management. Track is my passion.
