Was Anyone Better Than Whitney? Vote Kaylin For MileSplit Track & Field AOTY

Was anyone better than Kaylin Whitney this year? At only 16, the East Ridge sophomore won her third and fourth state titles, taking home wins in both the 100 and 200 for the second year in a row. However, that was just the beginning for the youngster. She outshined her competition at the Dream 100, Brooks PR Invitational, and set national records at the USA Junior Championships, before showcasing her talents on the world stage. Her time of 11.10 was a world junior leading mark and the fastest all-time ever by a high schooler. The mark was a one tenth better than the 11.11 Angela Williams of Chino, California ran in 1998. Not to be outdone, Whitney burned up the track in her favorite event the 200m dash. She posted another  world junior best, world youth best, and US#2 all-time all-conditions mark of 22.49 the following day! Her 200 meter time is second only to Allyson Felix's mark of 22.11 set in Mexico City in 2003

In her second visit to historic Hayward Field at the University of Oregon, she brought back gold medals in the 200m dash and as a member of Team USA's 4x100m relay, and collected bronze in the 100m dash. She is one of four athletes two win the USATF Athlete of the Week award twice or more joining Olympians Galen Rupp (three-times), Emma Coburn, and Marica Michta (twice).

Voting closes on Sunday, August 10th at 5 PM!
