Astronaut Invitational Meet Preview/Virtual Meet

The Astronaut Invitational has been a staple on the Space Coast for years. Last year's edition was rainy, misty, and didn't make for the best running conditions. Forty-three teams from around Central Florida and the coast will make the trek to Titusville and Chain Of Lakes Park (also the site of flrunners.com Invitational 15). The girl's race will feature two of the top teams in the state in 1A favorite Holy Trinity and 4A favorite Winter Park. In 2013, the Wildcats had five in the top eight to win with 25 points. Those same two boys' teams, also state title contenders in their respective classes, will battle it out as well. Olympia which has a well-rounded program too should finish in the top five in both races.

Candiano, Rodriguez Win Wire To Wire At Estero DDD Invite

The 2014 cross country season is upon us with much excitement and anticipation. The runners in southwest Florida were welcomed to one of the toughest courses in the state of Florida along with hot, humid conditions that is traditional for September. Estero’s coach, Jeff Sommer, prides himself on running a first class meet and making the Estero Community Park “one of hell of a course.” Runners are greeted with climbing a hill twice and the famous sand pit that they have to navigate twice as well.

Estero DDD Invitational Meet Preview/Virtual Meet

Forty-six teams and nearly 900 athletes will make their way to Estero Community Park for the Estero DDD Invitational. The course which has been used for district and regional meets in the past, contains short cut grass with a long hill and a sand pit. Newly added this year is a double bump on the backside of the hill.  One coach described this race as, "hell on Earth and the toughest course in the state." A strong contingent from southwest Florida is entered along with one of the top boy's teams in the state Belen Jesuit.

South Florida Competes On Revamped Course To See Who Will Be Crowned King Of The Hill

The 2014 South Florida cross country season kicks off this September 4th on the familiar grounds of Tropical Park. It has been quite some time since Tropical Park hosted a high school cross country invitational. but after some persistence from the running community in Miami, the parks department has stepped up and created a true cross country course. 750 athletes and 29 teams will welcome back the park into the Miami running scene. Don't expect fast times though, this is a true XC course--mulch, packed shells, grass, roots, and Miami's only hill.

Torres Edges Kerns, Guyton Cruises At Wiregrass Ranch Running With The Bullsa>

The 2014 Run with the Bulls Invitational at Wiregrass Ranch High School resumed after a one-year hiatus on Saturday. The faces of the 2012 meet were nowhere to be found Saturday as a new host of victors took the stage. In 2012, the Land O'Lakes Gators dominated the boys. In 2014, it was Class 4A state champion in the 1600m and 3200m Plant senior Jack Guyton that stole the show. Guyton was flanked by familiar foes in the early going. Jack Rodgers of Robinson and Noah Perkins of Seffner Christian both gave chase to Guyton early on.
