Zeller, Martins Show Warrior Mentality Winning West Orange Invite

As the sun came up over West Orange High School in Winter Garden, over 30 teams prepared to toe the line for the West Orange Invitational. Despite, some of the top teams and top runners opting to take this weekend off, the Warriors still put on a top notch meet with top notch competition.

Space Coast junior Skye Zeller made the trek to Central Florida and came away with a win in the girls varsity race. Zeller ran a new personal best of 19:07.63 to defeat Trinity Prep 7th grader Audrey McAnally. Host West Orange came away with the team title over Timber Creek 67-78. The Warriors had a 20:20 team average and 1-5 split of 1:25.
 

On the boy's side it was the Franco Martins show. The 1A Cross Country Finals champion cruised to a 14 second personal best of 15:20.59. Nicholas Gonzalez of the Geneva School was second in another sub 16 minute performance, 15:57.55. A second and a half separated Liberty's Rogelio Araiza and Lake Highland Prep senior Tyler Sidelsky from third and fourth place. Araiza and the Chargers put up another solid team performance winning with 82 points. Boone was runner-up with 99 points.
