Steele, Canady Nominated For MileSplit Performer Of The Week, Need Your Votes

Pasco High School and University of Miami signee Alfreda Steele and Paxon School For Advanced Studies senior Braxton Canady are up for MileSplit National Performer Of The Week.

Steele made her 2016 debut with two wins over World Youth silver medalist Khalfa St. Fort. In the 17-19 championship she clocked a time of 6.95 and improved that to a nation leading 6.90 in the high school championship race. Our national crew dubbed the race as the, "tasty race of the week."

"It was was a well executed race. She made the corrections that we talked about and it showed. I think its great because we are ahead of schedule. Last year she ran 7.04 at the Jimmy Carnes and this year she runs 6.90." - Coach Steven Rivers

Canady "cut the check" for another week running a US#1 7.75 60mH at the David Oliver Classic. His time of 7.23 at the Eastern High School Challenge, also in North Carolina, is the second fastest in the land behind only Grant Holloway of Virginia.

"During the offseason Braxton really focused on his strength and speed development. He is a lot stronger than he was at this point last season. Now it's a matter of embracing the speed and cleaning up the technique over the hurdles in preparation for New Balance." - Coach Kenny Anderson
