In His Own Words: Caleb Pottorff - Limited Air

This fall we are honored to have Lincoln Park Academy senior Caleb Pottorff blogging for us. Pottorff, was the 2A runner-up in cross country in 2015, and finished his junior track season as the 3,200m state champion and 1,600m state runner-up. He will be one of the most sought after distance recruits out of the Sunshine State this year and we are honored to be able to share in his journey.

I wrote about 20 days ago, and I had just gotten to camp out in Colorado. My summer training has been in full swing, with my mileage being higher then ever, and my paces being stronger. I averaged around 70 miles per week this summer with a couple weeks being over and a couple weeks being under. I did not take part in any speed work, rather I ran two 5 mile tempos, 4 long runs, a tougher hill run, and a tough treadmill workout on the last day of camp.

All of these things I just stated occurred during a 34 day period out in Colorado at camp. My longest long run was 15.5 miles at 6:07 pace at 9,400 feet elevation. My fastest tempo was 5:20 pace for 5 miles at 9,400 feet elevation. My treadmill workout on the last day of camp was at a speed of 5:06 per mile at 9,000 feet. Overall my summer has been a huge success, due to the fact that I have stayed healthy and was able to train harder and smarter. Team Prep USA has put me in the best situation to improve myself this coming year. Opportunity or Obligation?"
