South Florida's Fast Five From Week 5: Yared, Collins Capture Top Honors

South Florida's Fastest 5 Girls

Tsion Yared (Freshman, Pine Crest)

Tsion Yared, from Pine Crest is our top performer for this week's top five performances in south Florida. Yared ended up leading a strong pack of her teammates early on at the Pine Crest Cross Country Invitational. She ended up leaving the pack and opened up a gap to win the race a minute faster than everyone else. Yared ended up crossing the line at 18:11.19, which is her fastest time of the season. Her personal best is 18:08.31, so for Yared to only be three seconds away from breaking her PR seems like she'll continue to return to the top five.

Yared and her Pine Crest teammates just missed out on having a perfect score but she definitely helped them stay a strong pack early on. The team place first and then second through seventh, scoring 19 points. Here's what Yared had to say about the race "Coming into this race I thought I would've had a little more competition but less than half a mile I knew it was just going to be an alone race. So I just had the truck to motivate me and I just kept on throwing surges". Yared is looking forward to running at the Flrunners invite so be sure to look out for her this weekend.
