Salute To Seniors: Ladarius Flagg - Gainesville HS

The 2016-2017 school year has provided some great highlights in both cross country and track across the Sunshine State. In the coming weeks many of our seniors will head out to start their college careers both athletically and academically. We wanted to salute them one more time in this special feature and say thank you for your support over the years.

What was your most memorable race/moment?

My first time going 10.9 at a regional meet my sophomore season. It was only my 3rd time running the 100m in high school.

Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

Too many to count when your in class 3A, but I would probably say Shavaun Shaw.

What was your greatest accomplishment?

My great accomplishment was earning three D1 offers.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

I would probably change my work out plans to focus mainly on my 200m because i began to notice towards the end of the season that was my best event .

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Tweaking my hamstring towards the end of my senior season. It was a huge setback because colleges were looking to recruit me, but i couldn't run at 100%.

What will you miss the most?

My teammates and coaches. They were like family to me.

What advice you would give to younger athletes?

Never be afraid to try something different or step out of your comfort zone and never give up on your dreams no matter the circumstances.

What influence has your coach had with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

My coaches always pushed me and made me go harder every day in practice which gave me the mentality that my effort may have been good, but it still isn't good enough to get to where i want to be.

What are your college plans?

I will be attending FIU on a track scholarship

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I would like to say thank you to all my coaches, teammates,  and anyone that pushed me throughout my four years in high school. Also to Mike Hud from Godby and my favorite coach of all time my mom. Also, to the man above.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

I need FLRunners.com to keep up with me while I'm at FIU.
