Fresh off a sprint sweep in the 200 and 400m dash at New Balance Nationals, Tyrese Cooper wanted to race "the big boys". Cooper, who owns multiple national titles and national records was hoping to run 44 seconds this past weekend in Greensboro, had the chance on Thursday night at the USA  T&F Championships.

The sprint sensation was in the third heat of the opening round and finished fourth in 45.45s, just shy of his personal best of 45.23. Cooper had to sweat it out as it it literally came down to the fifth and final heat to see if he would advance to Saturday night's semifinal. (10:34 P.M)

The rising junior nabbed the 14th of 16 available spots and will have a tough lane draw against the nation's best that includes NCAA champions and Olympic gold medalists.
