Miami MLB All Star Weekend Includes Zumba Class & 5K Electric Run

The 2017 MLB All Star Weekend takes place in Miami Friday July 8th -11th and will incorporate two fun fitness events for those in attendance.

The first is the Electric Run MLB AllStar 5K presented by Nike which kicks the traditional 5K up a notch with neon lights, music, and an epic dance party after crossing the finish. Belen Jesuit cross country coach and Nike Run Club Southeast Coach Frankie Ruiz helped design the course and says this event will be one of a kind.

"They haven't done anything like this near here in the last four years," Ruiz explained. "The Summer is synonymous with fun especially in South Florida but it is also when runners tend to back off their running a bit because of the humidity and heat. To hit both those points we're lucky enough to have an entertaining run using a route never used before and best of all the run is at night to keep temps on the cooler side to make it even more enjoyable."

Ruiz went onto say that the combination of fun and fitness is a perfect way to hit your new PR.

"I know many of us are always looking to improve our PR's, but one of the best ways to energize your pursuit of faster times is to add some fun with tons of awesome people making this the perfect event to hit," he said.

Baseball lovers and exercise fanatics can keep the energy going at the MLB All Star Zumba Class the following day with Beto Perez, the man who started it all.

Although, baseball will be the main attraction of the week, these events are sure to attract many members of our running community as well!  Tell your friends, family, and teammates and use code: ALLSTAR17 for $10 off when you register.
