Scouting Report: Creekside Girls

The Creekside girls are looking for another top five finish at the state meet in 2017. Coach Mandy Yates gives us the scouting report on this year's Knights.

How did your team fare last season and what did you take away from 2016?

The team was District Runner Up, 5th place Region and 5th place in the State in 2016.  We ended the season with a 5th place finish at the State meet, and have used that momentum to train and develop for our 2017 season.

How is the team looking this year?  What are your tentative top five and top seven?

We have a dedicated group of ladies who enjoy running together.  The top group is a mixture of returning runners and freshmen.  You will notice familiar names like Claire and Tara Openshaw. Some new names are, Hannah Jacobbe, Blake Petrick, Ashlyn Iliff, Lauren Bolnick and Megan Graser.

What are the strengths of this team?

My entire team is incredibly hard-working.  They encourage and motivate one another to make it through tough workouts.

What has the training been like?

We have had a great summer of conditioning, very good attendance throughout the summer. Have you gone to any camps? Part of the team attended Brevard Distance Running Camp in Brevard, NC in July.

Any new additions who may contribute?

In addition to those listed previously, quite a few new runners both freshmen and upper classmen.

What are the team goals and meets you're keying for this year?

We are looking forward to Alligator Lake Invitational, FSU Invitational (Pre-State), and the Bronco Classic in Middleburg.  Our focus is on training and running smart so we are ready to compete at each race especially those at the District, Region and State courses.
