Centerville Hoping To Land A Nike Cross Nationals Wild-Card Entry

Emma Bucher (#2576) led the way for Centerville at the NXN Midwest Regional.

With the last of the Nike Cross Regional meets taking place this weekend, Ohio's Centerville will soon learn if they'll be granted one of the coveted wild-card team entries to Nike Cross Nationals which are scheduled for December 2nd in Portland.

Centerville finished 4th at the NXN Midwest Regional in Terre Haute on November 12th with 195 points.  Automatic qualifying spots were earned by Naperville North and Yorkville.  Like Centerville, 3rd place Barrington is seeking a wild-card invitation.

Leading up to NXR Midwest, Centerville traveled out of state to take impressive wins at the Trinity / Valkyrie Invitational (Kentucky) and the Paul Short Run (Pennsylvania) before claiming the OHSAA DI Ohio State Team Championship at the National Trail Raceway in early November.  Centerville also scored emphatic victories earlier in the season at their home Saturday Night Lights meet, as well as at Hilliard Davidson's Hot Summer Bash

Grace Kilroy took 1st place at the Hot Summer Bash and 2nd at the Early Season Invite.

* Centerville's coaching staff shared these thoughts regarding their team:

"We took 4th place at the Midwest Regional against a deep field of over 230 team runners and 35 teams and our pack time of :44 compares favorably to 'bubble teams' from other regions. In 2015, we got in and upset some teams.  That year our region got 4 spots to NXN and the teams lived up to it."

* Centerville's Coach Dobson recently spoke with Travis on the MileSplit Live Show to state his case for why his squad should get an invite:

* Cory from MileSplit USA gives his take on who should get the wild-card team entries:

* Expect an announcement regarding wild-card invites by Saturday night, following the conclusion of the regional meets.

Centerville's Emma Bucher is one of Ohio's top ranked freshmen.
