Horn Jumps US#1; Morris, Jardine Go Big At First VaultWorX Meet

A few of the state's top pole vaulters got off to a hot start on the runway on Friday, December 1 at the VaultWorX Facility in Camp Hill. At the first of a few VaultWorX-hosted meets, some of the club's best showed they are ready for big indoor seasons.

Manheim Township's Mackenzie Horn notched a nice PR to start to senior campaign in the girls' competition. Horn cleared 12-7 to earn the win and set an early-season US#1. Her previous all-conditions best was 12-6 from last spring outdoors. Her previous indoor best was 11-8.5. Watch Horn's nation-leading jump above.

Hempfield's Carena Nottoli took second, jumping 11-7. Loyalsock's Hailey Zurich also cleared 11-7 to take third. Manheim Township's Sydney Horn took fourth with a jump of 11-1.

In the boys' competition, Payton Morris of East Pennsboro took the win over Joe Jardine of Schuylkill Valley, though both vaulters cleared 15-1. Morris cleared 15-1 on his first attempt, while Jardine got it on his second.

While his indoor PR is 15-6.25 from last year's state meet, Morris proved he's well ahead of schedule from a year ago when it took him until after the new year to get over 15 feet. Meanwhile, that's over a foot indoor PR for Jardine (his outdoor best is 15-3.5).

Hershey's Dalton Burnham also jumped high, clearing 14-1, which is over a two foot personal best for the senior.
