2A Girls Rankings:

Commentary: I'm always amazed how much the athletes step up their game once the state series rolls around.  Congratulations to all the district champions!  There was a bit of a shake-up at the top with the district 2 results and it's good to see Episcopal back in the mix.  Estero continues to make the best of a pulse of 4 talented freshmen and sits close to the top this year after finishing 24th last year.  Ranson Everglades is most likey saving their best for state and three former 3A schools (Cocoa Beach, Cypress Lake, and Satellite, find themselves in the top 15.  Unfortunately, a tough district 4 meet prevented West Shore, who had been ranked, from moving on the regionals. In the individual rankings I am sticking by the Schappert name for the top spot.  After the top 10, on any given day these rankings can go any direction!  It will be good to see the times grouped up a little more in regional competition with only 4 course to consider.

3A Girls Rankings:

Commentary: It is that time again, to see what teams we are predicitng to move on to the State meet. Regions 1 and 2 will definitely be the most competitive regions in 3A. Region 3 will be a 2-team clash of the titans, pitting Lakewood Ranch and Fort Myers. Finally in Region 4, look for the top 6 teams from District 7 to qualify for state. District 8 is just too weak to qualify any teams for state. Fort Walton Beach has the best chance in Region 1 of upsetting Chiles.

Team Rankings by Region:

4A Girls Rankings:

By: Coach Ryan Raposo, John A. Ferguson HS - rraposo@dadeschools.net

Commentary: The State picture is finally becoming more clear and there is a tight race between a few teams in the top 5 for the second podium position. Also 6th-15th places are only separated by a 15 second team average difference! I can't wait to see how this all plays out.

Team Rankings by Region:

Region 1: Not so much the Region of Death anymore, Region 1 still holds its own against Region 2. On a good day three of these teams could end up in the top 5 at the State Meet.

Region 2: Due to District 4 being run partially on asphault, I've added a 30 second equalizer. This being after comparing boys & girls results, and both individual times & team averages.
Region 2: (16 schools) State (Prev.) Comments:
1. Winter Park, 3-  1 (1) 19:29 Avg, 1st in D3 - Still the team to beat, but there is a close race for 2nd!

16. Wekiva, 3- NR (NR) 21:59, 8th in D3

Region 3: There were a couple of big jumps in the State rankings for Region 3 and they have just about shut out Region 4 which has helped keep many of these teams in the teens.
Region 3: (14 schools) State (Prev.) Comments:
1. Spanish River, 5-  8 (15) 20:30 Avg, 1st in D5
2. St. Thomas Aquinas, 6-  10 (14) 20:33 Avg, 1st in D6

14. Boca Raton, 5- NR (NR) 22:46 Avg, 8th in D5

Region 4: The six teams from District 8 will move onto the State Championship. District 7 is embarrassing. District 8 is weaker than last year and is scraping up the bottom of the State as it traditionally has before. Let's go Miami, start kicking it into gear! =(
Region 4: (12 schools) State (Prev.) Comments:
1. Our Lady of Lourdes, 8-  2 (3) 19:50 Avg, 1st in D8 - Back to 2nd place, but not by much!
2. South Dade, 8-  20 (20) 21:56 Avg, 2nd in D8

4A  Boys Rankings:

By: Jorge Fleitas, Columbus HS - jfleitas@columbushs.com

Regional Rankings:

4A Region 1 State Rank Comments
1 Melbourne (6) No one's stopping this 1-2 punch .  Brian Atkinson is running  at an unbelievably high level, and it seems no one has a chance to compete with him in 4A. Look for Melbourne to out lean Lyman by a couple of points
2 Lyman (7) Sean Rynning has stepped into a leadership role and is running to make a statement. Look for him to post a great time this week running with some of the best individuals in the state.
3 Lake Brantley
4 Mandarin
5 Flagler Palm Coast
6 Spruce Creek/ Winter Springs

4A Region 2 State Rank Comments
1 Dr. Phillips (1) It seems teams are getting used to the idea of DP likely winning the state championship. DP is just toying with teams, now with  Logan Kruse moving into the #3 spot for DP. They are a tough team to beat.
2 Plant (3)  Plant continues to run at the state caliber level. Seems like the dark horse I chose at the beginning of the year is back. Bo Nelson continuing to run at a high level and, finally, John Wilkins becoming part of the fun.
3 Winter Park (5) Winter Park 3rd place finish at Districts to DP and Colonial should spark up the Park this week. Theoretically, they should have beaten Colonial running without Chad Gagnier No. 1/2.
4 Colonial (9) Led by Steven Fernandez and the team has every individual in place to hang around with Chamberlain, Countryside, and Boone.
5 Chamberlain (8)  Not only did Mark Parrish Run 15:28 but the attack on Distict 4 kept rolling with Max Del Monte's 15:38 run. This team might have the best 1-2 punch in 4A after last weeks run.
6 Countryside/Boone   I can not choose who will be left out, it seems as if Countryside has the advantage but, Boone does not want to stay home… On Friday we will Know which team will be at the show in order to place in the Top 10.

4A Region 3 State Rank Comments
1 John I Leonard (10) Winning at District 5 as easily as Ryan Pickering did was impressive, and putting Charles and Visi-Clark under 16:30 may sneak them into the top ten at the state meet. Look for #4 and #5 to step up for this to happen.
2 St. Thomas Aquinas
3 Park Vista
4 Boca Raton
5 Taravella
6 West Broward

4A Region 4 State Rank Comments
1 Columbus (2) Columbus isn't doing much for style points, coming up with wins these past few weeks. Look for them to be an underdog, going into next week, running at Larry and Penny.
2 Ferguson (4) Now this is what you're supposed to do if you're trying to make a statement.  Estrada, Estevez, and Montoya have all run under 16:22 on a tough Larry and Penny Course. It seems Ferguson has gathered itself to make a showing at the State meet next Saturday.
