Reynolds Sweeps Her Four Events

Robin Reynolds has done it again.  After winning four events as a freshman, but only 3/4 last year as a sophomore, the Miami Jackson junior has once again swept her events.  She started with the long jump a huge 19-11, followed with an 11.67 in the 100, then the 400 meter convincingly in 53.91, and finally closed the deal with a 23.95 in the 200.  All were wind legal.

Charlotte Florida #4 All-Time 4x800, Cardillo Wins 1600

Hotly anticipated race this afternoon, with Charlotte going after the state record. The rain dampened the day a bit, but just let up in time for their race. They cranked through with opening legs of 1:58 and 1:57 that gapped the rest of the field and had them running all alone. Ryan Schnulle then took the baton and hit a 1:53 split before giving it to Cardillo who came home 1:52.

The final time of 7:40.44 puts them at #4 on the all-time bests list. The team will be giving it another go at New Balance Nationals and hopes that with competition the record may be toast.

Even after that killer 1:52 800 leg, Tyler Cardillo had more work to do. He battled in a hard-fought race against cross country state champion Jimmy Clark. Cardillo got in first with a strong kick 4:11.27 to 4:11.83. Teammate Ryan Schnulle was also in the mix and finished fourth behind Harsha Torke of Viera in 4:15.

The duo was not yet done and came back an hour later for the 800 to cap their night.  They were visibly exhausted and were dead last in the second heat through the first lap.  But with 300 to go they decided "why not" and unleashed what kick they had left.  Pretty impressive... they battled back with Schnulle finishing in second behind Isaiah Smith 1:52.58 to 1:53.47.  Cardillo finished in 8th with a 1:56.05. Teammate and fellow 4x8er Bryan Hilgar was fourth in 1:54.04.
