@CoachRaposo Thx. It's not out of the question that the Gables girls could sneek into that 6th spot at Regionals with a couple of big performances.

Districts today at Tropical Park. Beautiful day and great weather! Watch out for the Gulliver Raiders -- they're coming through! McCoy, Tarrau, Pulido and the rest of the girls -- keep your pack close and you will do great!

@BConvey After a two minute team average drop from GMAC to District, anything is possible!

    8 #937 Friedman, Adam 10 Ransom Everglades 3:35.8 17:58.94 8

Quite a statement by Ransom in 2A District 16!
  • BConvey / 2 Years Ago
@jdpsu I'm not changing Ransom as my pick to win 2A, either. But I knew their 8th grader, Gaby Correa was going to be a factor. It's not Larry and Penny slow, but I don't think Gulliver's course at Tropical is particularly fast, either.
  • jdpsu / 2 Years Ago
@BConvey That was nice pack running-#1-#4 had a spread of .6 seconds! Should be a 2 team race in 2A. Curious to see how BK does....
  • lrak / 2 Years Ago
Could anyone shed some light on who is responsible to make sure that each school competes in enough meets prior to districts to be able to compete?
  • BruinsMama / 2 Years Ago
3A district 9.... A challenging course, great competition, and a beautiful afternoon.
Congrats to the boys district champ!! Canaan Kitterman....... and an even BIGGER congrats to the Bayshore High boys team. 3rd place and a move on to regional.
This is really something for them all to be proud of, they have worked so hard. It is the first XC team to move on to regional for BHS is several years!! Well done to each of you!!
Congratulations to the girls district champ, Trixi Menge of Strawberry Crest!
A super "Hooray!" to Brandon High School who walked away with the team champ title in both the girl's and boy's race!!
Well done to all the runners, teams, coaches on a great district meet.

  • Speeder / 2 Years Ago
@lrak I don't think anyone does. I think they're counting on us being honest and policing ourselves.
  • Will / 2 Years Ago
@Speeder Like in the banking system, right?
  • Will / 2 Years Ago
Just to balance things out in the universe, I think 4A district 15 must have taken all of the distance short every course was this year and added it to their race...
  • kyankees / 2 Years Ago
Complete domination by Belen at 3A-16, taking the top 7 with the #7 coming in nearly 32 seconds ahead of the next runner.

    @Coach_Hill

When it says "are entered" does that refer to the official entry form submitted to FHSAA or a count of runners on the starting line? It does not say "finishes" or even "competes." By the letter of the rule, this should refer to the document.
I don't think there is such as thing as being too literal when it comes to rule books. I've had the "letter of the law" used against me before.
If a team enters but has misfortune (illness, injury, transportation problems), by rule, they should still count, shouldn't they?
I know if my team was kept out of Regionals because some team's 5th runner twisted his/her ankle and DNF'ed, I be waving that line at the FHSAA.
  • lrak / 2 Years Ago
@BConvey congatulations again on your sons performance wining the district title as a 9th grader! Excellent time also.

3.5.3.2.4 Advancement of Teams and Individuals
    (a) District Meet to Regional Meet. The first three (3) placing teams and the top 13 runners in each district meet in which six (6) or
less teams of five to seven runners are entered, and the first four (4) placing teams and the top 13 runners in each district meet
in which 7 or more teams of five to seven runners are entered, shall advance to the regional meet to which they are assigned.
“Entered” is defined as being present at the starting line and competing. A runner who qualifies in the top 13 and who also is a
member of a qualifying team may be replaced in the team lineup [regional meet/FHSAA Finals] by a substitute. The substitute,
however, shall not be eligible for individual honors on any subsequent level of competition.

It clearly defines entered... so if a kid starts the race but does not finish that team still counts. Entered is 5 to 7 at the starting line it is very clear in the rule.

    I read that article. AMAZING!!
I demand to know what they put into the water that flows through the drinking fountains at Belen!!
What an impressive team. Congrats to them and congrats to their coach(es)!!

@lrak Thx. What a fun year!

Congratulations to Ferguson girls and boys for their good performance to win the District championship, It was not easy Lourdes and Sunset were strong contenders, was a head to head competition. It is going to be exciting race to watch between those teams for Regionals.
