1A and 3A Boys Pre-District Rankings

Heading into the District week, a couple of our volunteer pollsters went the extra mile and did a set of Pre-District Rankings even though they had this week off to prepare for the Pre-Region and Pre-State Rankings over the next two weeks. Major kudos to Coach Romero and to Coach Egbert for putting these rankings together. Next week all of our pollster's will be back on their normal routine and tell us who they think are the best teams in each Region around the state.

1A Boys Rankings

Team Rankings:

Commentary: I used my "High Tech" approach once again, only went more in depth. This time I left you the links for the 4 mock Regional Meets and a mock State Meet based on the top 6 at each Region Meet. Here is my picture of the way things should shake out.  HT is the only team that can beat HT, sorry rest of 1A but they are not known to choke.  PK Yonge has added to their slight paper advantage to take an actual advantage of close to 10 points over Trinity Prep.  Maclay and Circle Christian seems toin a fight for the # 4 spot lets see if Maclay laying low pays off in the end.  Tampa Prep is not giving up their spot in the top 6 and wants a crack at Maclay and Circle Christian but the back end of their team needs to step up.  Region 2 seems to be the Region of Death in 1A as overall ranked 12 Mount Dora Bible looks to miss the State Meet, and if they do make it that will leave home First Academy (Orlando) ranked #11 overall. Good Luck to you all. (note AVG is calculated on season best times, no feature yet to do the AVG of the AVG...ehem Jason)

  Team Name, Region (Prev.)  Comments:
1 Holy Trinity (R-3 #1) 1. 16:00 AVG The State meet is their's to lose
2 P.K. Yonge School (R-2 #1) 2a 16:22 AVG Beginning to put some distance on TP
3 Trinity Prep (R-2 #2) 2 16:27 AVG 4 & 5 need to close the gap on PKY if they want to keep their usual podium spot
4 Maclay (R-1 #1) 7 17:08 AVG as I said they were laying in wait training for the big show and here they come
5 Circle Christian (R-2 #3) 4 17:08 AVG the Fosters at the top of this team help keep them in the #4 position and their  3-5 only have a 30sec split
6 Tampa Prep (R-2 #4) 5 17:26 AVG Top 4 are solid pack running, # 5-7 need to step up to challenge for a top 5 finish
7 Bishop John J. Snyder (R-1 #2) 6 17:29 AVG with a 1-5 Split of 51 seconds, if the pack moves together and put all 7 infront of Tampa Preps # 5 they can move up
8 Seffner Christian Academy (R-2 #5) 13 17:31 AVG listened to my rant last rankings, top 6 at region is piece of cake now
9 St John Neumann (R-3 #2) 8 17:34 AVG the 1-7 split of 1:40 is solid if they can all move together they can  move closer to the top 5 teams
10 Keswick Christian (R-3 #3) 15 17:40 AVG 3,4 &5 need to step up for this team to not get passed up and move back down the list
11 First Academy -Orlando (R-2 #6) 10 17:46 AVG Keep an eye out for Mount Dora Bible they want your spot at State
12 Mount Dora Bible (R-2 #7) 9 17:53 AVG Hard for me to put you guys in when you are seeded 7th in your region and not making states (on paper)
13 Community School of Naples (R-3 #3) 12 17:54 AVG # 5 needs to step up or you can keep slipping down the rankings prior to State
14 Pensacola Christian (R-1 #3) 11 18:00 AVG Solid pack running will take you up a spot or two
15 Shorecrest Prep (R-3 #5) (NR) 18:01 AVG 4 & 5 have to step up or you might wind up 7th at regionals and miss the big show

Previously Ranked teams: McKeel Academy (R-3 #6) previously ranked 14th

Individual Rankings:

Commentary: This week was a bit hard to rank.  Many courses got rained on and changed, there are "discussions" of course lengths, and many top ranked guys didn't run.  The top 9 are unchanged, but # 10 Bolser and #11 Covert have awoken and want State Medals, jumping 7 and 9 spots respectively.  HT is the only team with all 7 runners in the rankings, but not far behind are PKY (4) and TP (3).  The only safe spots are the top 5, the next 5 can be had by anyone on this list.  Good luck to you all at Districts and Regionals.

3A Boys Rankings

By: Carl Egbert, Barron Collier HS, carlegbert@yahoo.com

Team Rankings:

Commentary: We are finally into November and its time for the real racing to begin. Enough of this nonsense about this course is short and this course was measured from the middle and any other stupid argument. It's now about head to head racing and nothing else the next 3 weeks. Many great match ups but none better than District 12 which has FM vs Naples vs Palmetto Ridge. Miranda and Pelletier vs Gates and Sheaer vs Brown and Shearman makes for an explosive race and this is just Districts. Woohoo !
