Steeple Timing Closes Its Doors

After much consideration following the untimely passing of her husband Jeff Wentworth earlier this month, Marcia Mansur-Wentworth has decided that Steeple Timing will close up shop. She will be moving to Arizona to be closer to family. Below is a letter from Marcia to the flrunners.com community.

FL Runners:

I wanted to let you to know that I will not be able to keep Steeple Timing going on my own. I will not sell it because I think it is important to protect the company's (Jeff's) reputation and selling Jeff's business just didn't seem right. This year we were actually looking at a record number of events with Steeple Timing, also expanding to webcasting of many other sporting events and work with Space Coast Sports w/ Jeff's college teammate, Rusty Buchanan, we were looking at an extremely busy year--which was a good problem to have.

Not only would I be unable to handle the schedule of events on my own, but emotionally it was more than I could bear. I have given this a great deal of thought. While I went back and forth on keeping Steeple Timing as Jeff's legacy, I can't do it. I will hold a special place in my heart for Track/Cross Country in Florida. It was a tough decision since I've been involved w/ this sport in Florida since my days as Executive Director of the Florida Association of USA Track and Field in Gainesville to becoming an Assistant Coach at the University of South Florida and then to my Head Coach position at UCF and then to team up w/ Jeff working together on Steeple Timing.  I have met and worked with some amazing people since Jeff and I arrived in Florida in 1989.  I will miss my Florida friends dearly.  I have some great memories not only of my athletes but of the athletes and coaches I've watched over the years. I have witnessed athletes' progress and watched coaches build programs to excellence......... and its been a joy.

I will be moving to AZ to be near family while I figure out my next step. Jeff's death aside from being sudden has been tough on me and family is very important to me while I sort through more emotions than I thought possible. With a clear head and family I can make the decision on what path to take next.

I have notified coaches/clients so they can make other arrangements as quickly as possible. The web site will remain up so those interested can find previous year's results if the wish.

Thank you friends and have a healthy, happy and successful 2012.....

Yours in Sport;

Marcia Mansur-Wentworth
