Over 1700 pics yet not one of B or G Shot Put or Discus, were those events cancelled ?
No the events took place, the photographer can't be everywhere at once

I agree thar the photographer can not be in all places, but why is that the ones that left out are always the Shot put & discus event, I have been carrying this issue going into the 6th year
Art, I understand your concern, I agree that these are severely underrepresented, however, the shotput and discuss require equipment which is often far too expensive, such as 500mm-600mm lenses, and for a photographer to put himself in a very dangerous line which many, in fact most, field officials do not allow, please keep following our work, I know you're bound to see these here

John:
I am dedicated to the Shot put & discus, due I coach my boys in it, I agree with you those events are usually undercover, I also conquerd that it is not the most glamorous event to watch, by properly bringing it to the attention of those who cover the Meets I expect to receive a little more attention for the events.

ARTDELGADO I agree that we want to give the throwers some love and we'll definitely try. I'm sure we will... John will be at a lot of meets this spring. South Florida will have great coverage, we've got him working hard this year.
Throws is just really difficult if you don't have one sitting out there specifically for it. It takes a LONG time, there is a lot of waiting, and you have to be in just the right position to get anything decent. And then of course you miss what's going on at the track... and then those parents are upset with you!
With a lot of other events, like the long jump or pole vault or high jump... you can be shooting the track and then in the down times between heats, you can easily get some good shots of those (depending on exact track layout). So you can do both. With throws, like I said... in many cases you have to have a photographer dedicated just to that (or just to field in general) to get it. And sometimes you've got multiple throws going on at the same time on some tracks (boys and girls).
It's just really difficult.
But, yes, I do agree that we want to get those kids also. And we will try. Just wanted to stress that it's not because we don't care about those events... of course we do. It's just hard to be everywhere and get everyone and make everyone happy... unless you have two or three photographers working the meet.
