Just thought I'd let everyone know Ricky Robertson Of Old Miss jumped 7"7 moments ago! Thats the worlds highest jump this year!!

@Pennstate It's the worlds highest jump so far because most of the worlds best jumpers haven't opened up their seasons yet. With the Olympics being in August most of your top tier track stars will not start really competing until May-June time frame. It's no doubt a fantastic jump, but it will be surpassed.

Here's a list of last years top jumps:
    World Leaders 2011

So Robertsons jump of 2.32 meters would have put him right around 20th best in the World last year.
  • Dutra24 / 3 Years Ago
Robertson's jump also would have been the second best in the US last year and, all things equal, would have put Robertson on the Olympic team. These are all good things and there's no reason in particular to downplay a 2.32 at this time of the year.
  • Dutra24 / 3 Years Ago
How about the American Heritage 3:43 with all underclass girls including a 7th and 10th grader?

@KBrnnr Not to be rude or anything but who really cares about last year? This is 2012 and AS OF RIGHT THIS MOMENT thats a big accomplishment for Ricky. Theres no reason to downplay his jump like it was no big deal. I only posted it because it happened at Florida and was showing some love for such a big accomplishment for him to jump that high at this point in the season.
Last time I checked Levonte Whitfield has the fastest 100m time for Florida, but nobody is playing it off like it is nothing when Marvin Bracy hasn't run a 100 in Florida yet.
My point is your comment was unnecessary, if he gets beat later on thats great but right now Give him some props.
  • TGrasley / 3 Years Ago
@Pennstate Footage of his jumps and interview are posted. Good kid and heck of a jumper. He had the whole place going.

    @pennstate @Dutra24

See BOLD letters. Was anything I said false?? Did I say it wasn't a great jump? I ONLY said that although it was a world leader that is only the case because it's very early in the season. THAT IS A FACT!! It's just like when Floridians post the "Nations Leading" outdoor times when our Outdoor season starts a month before most of the countries. Not downplaying those performances....just stating that it's all about finishing well. And the top marks/results at the end of the season are what matter.

So Congrats to Mr. Robertson on a stellar jump! But please don't miss interpret what is a valid statement based on facts.

Now I know how Raposo feels.....

@KBrnnr It is indeed very early in the season, but from where Ricky started the season at (7-3.75) to now a 7-7.25 he is going to be someone to watch out for. He might be able to keep the world number one if he keeps improving. You know what they say if you believe you can achieve and in watching his interview afterwords he does believe in himself. I looked up multiple high jumpers who jumped higher than Ricky last year and a number of them have already jumped participated in some meets this year and are right around the same mark as Ricky. I apologize if I miss read ur post, I just wanted ricky to get some support especially since he is the second best jumper in the US.
  • DigitalPixel / 3 Years Ago
The photos of the 7'7" jump are uploaded... The are frame by frame so you can all critique the jump so more. It was impressive, he owned the crowed and put on a great show. Let him have his moment in glory. I think he had some extra height too, so he can go higher.
