Holy Trinitys track isnt a metric 400 meter track. Its 440 yards so if they were to do 8 full laps it would be around a full 2 miles.The fast times were a result of some great runners shooting for some fast times and so the races were fast from the start. The track is also a softer rubber that benefits distance races more than the sprinting events.
Actually, the track is neither 440 yds or 400 meters. It is a couple feet longer than 440yds. : ) The races were 800,1600, and 3200, therefore the start being in front of the finish.
I happened to be in that 800M and 1600M race, and it was a fantastic track to run on. Great surface, great conditions, and an even better crowd cheering on. Thanks again HT!
