Salute To Seniors: Glen Dorsey - Northside Christian

What was your most memorable race?

A memorable race was my freshmen year was running the 300 meter hurdles at Clearwater High School. When I was coming up on the last few hurdles I tripped and fell in front of EVERYBODY, then got up and fell again, and again, but eventually finished the race.

What would you consider your biggest competition?

My biggest competition was in the 4x400 relay at the 2011 state meet.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments, which stands out the most?

Running on the 4x400 and 4x200 and getting the school record for both.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career?

I would warm up more before the race and start my hurdle career a lot earlier.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

When I strained my hamstrings during my senior year in high school and not being able to achieve my goal of getting the 300 meter record, but still I had a great year.

What will you miss the most?

I will miss my teammates who are my family. I will definitely miss the Coaches: G., Mr. Greenleaf, Mrs. Karen, Mrs. Heron, Ms. Jones, Mr. Haley, Mr. Madasz, Ms. Duff, and Mrs. Angela Goodwin. Without their help I would have not become the athlete person that I am today. I will also miss my “Bus Buddy” (Gabby).

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

Don’t’ ever think this is all too hard and pointless because it’s not. This will make you become a better athlete and to be much stronger. The coaches only want the best for you, Just remember our phrase on our shirt “Pain is temporary, but pride is forever”.  Remember to always run for the glory of God and to thank him in all that you do.

What kind of influence have your coaches had on you?

All of the coaches have had a great influence on me; I came into the program at Northside not knowing what I was getting myself into and what an honor it has been. They have whipped me into shape and as I mention earlier they have made me into a great athlete.

What are your college plans?

I will be attending St. Petersburg College majoring in Business Administration for two years then transferring to either the University of South Florida or Florida State University and run on the track team.

Who would you like to say thank you too?

I want to say thank you to my family for all of the love and support they have given me. Thanks to all my teammates for their support that they had given me at every meet and practice, and a special thanks to the coaches for believing in me and pushing me to strive for the best.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Good Luck Mustangs and GO BIG BLUE!!
