Salute To Seniors: Tanisha Coppin - Boyd Anderson

What was your most memorable race?

My most memorable race would have to be the 800m at  the Florida Relays.

What would you consider your biggest competition?

My biggest competition would be myself. I had to get the mindset to believe in myself.

Out of all of your high school accomplishments which stands out the most?

My greatest high school accomplishment would be our team winning the state championship for the first time. That goes down in history.

If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

If I could do it all over I wouldnt really change anything, I would just drink more water! ( Insider)

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

The most difficult obstacle I had to overcome was fear. I used to step on the track and fear would just come to my mind, but I learned to just trust God, let go, and just run.

What will you miss the most?

I will miss my teammates and coaches. We would see each other almost everyday. We are like a family.

Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

The advice I would give to younger athletes is to never doubt yourselves. ALWAYS believe you can do all things through Jesus Christ. He is the one who gives you strength.

What influence has your coach had on you with respect to your performance and overall life goals?

Where should I begin? First of all I dont know what I would do if God hadn't placed my coaches in my life. Coaches Damien Thomas, Desmond Pryce, Sampson Williams, and  Duchane Thomas. Coach Duchane Thomas who we called " Lady Coach"  is like our second mother. She meant business every single time we stepped on that track. There was no going through the motions with her. You have to give 100% when on the track at practice and of course at the meets as well. She always kept us in line on the track and off. We had to give our best but in the classrooms as well. Our education came first then track and field. She is more than a coach to me. She is a teacher, mentor, loves God and a person who loves and just cares for kids.

What are your college plans?

My college plans are to attend Florida Atlantic Universiy. I will be majoring in Business Administration and running track. Go Owls!

Who would you like to say thank you to?

I would like to say thank you to my parents and family who are always my support system. I love them alot andI thank God for them . I'd also like to thank my coaches and teammates who are amazing.
