In Her Own Words: Stefanie Kurgatt

Hello everybody! The first time I blogged, summer was winding down and I know we were all trying to get everything ready for school. Well now all of the runners have just completed either their first or second week of school. It was my first week of school last week, and it maybe still has not kicked in that I am a senior, but there is definitely no time wasted when it comes ready to kicking things into gear. Although I miss summer, I was ready to get back into a daily routine. Even though it is a little more stressful because of trying to get good grades AND find the right college, running definitely helps me relax and regain focus.

Also, the Maclay ladies have gotten me really excited about this coming season. It is nice to see the team working so hard during practice and everyone is so supportive of each other. It has been fun to see us develop into not only a team but a family. We are out there working hard but also having fun, and that is what matters most. Our hard work is definitely starting to show too! We recently had a pre-season local race- Millers Landing Madness. It was a great community race and was fun to see everyone running.  Gulf Winds Track Club does a great job of setting up races and getting everyone together to run for a cause. All the ladies ran great and set pr’s for the course. What a great start to the season!

Coach Droze and Coach Cox (or as we’d like to call him Stephen Falcon), have played a major role in all of us growing as a team. I cannot even begin to thank them enough for all the hard work they have put in on us and it is such a blessing to have them as our coaches. I am so excited for this season and hope everyone else is too!  To all the seniors, let’s have a great start to the year and finish off with a bang. The runners of the class of 2013 will be one to be remembered, and let us set a good example for everyone else.

Happy running and God Speed!
