FLR13: Logo Revealed, First ROC Invites, Adding Overflow Race

Logo Revealed

Here is this year's logo, which we are very proud of. It was designed by Ft. Myers High School dad Robert Brown of Twang™ Trendgineering. It reflects the uniqueness of the course and we think it will look great on the t-shirts.

We'll have t-shirts available with this design in various colors.

First Round of ROC Invitations

We'd hereby like to extend invitations to the following teams to compete in our Race of Champions. We are announcing below ten boys teams and ten girls teams. Leading up to the race, we will look at each weekend's results and issue some more invitations to teams that show they are worthy. In the end we are looking to have 25 teams in the ROC for each gender. So 15 invitations are yet to go out on each side. We will consider every team that is entered in the meet for Saturday competition.

Our target for teams in the ROC is teams that we think can run about a 17:20 top five average for boys and a 20:30 average on the girls side. We will also allow some individuals to run, separate from their team, if their team does not qualify--provided those individuals have run sub-16 for boys and sub-19 for girls.

Race Filled Up... Adding Another Saturday Division Soon

We were overwhelmed by your support this year! At a faster pace than ever, we hit capacity. Saturday completely filled up, hitting our 90 school limit. And Friday is actually at about 66 schools and our limit is 70 for Friday!!

We are doing our best to accomodate as many schools as possible. So unofficially I will say that we are going to be adding another varsity division and possibly another junior varsity division to the Saturday schedule. I say unofficially, because we are working on the course and schedule to make sure we do it in a way that can accomodate that many teams and a schedule that will get everyone out of there at a half-way reasonable time.

One change that is for sure... we will be going to a rolling awards schedule, rather than a single huge ceremony at the end.

More information about the schedule changes and races TBD... but if you are entered on our "Saturday Waiting List" then your team is going to be the first ones in that new division. It is entirely possible that we will max out that division as well (already 11 schools on that waiting list)... and we will NOT be adding another. So get in now!!

Adam Goucher to Speak, Friday 8:30PM @ IRC UM Church

In case you missed the announcement last month, we are very pleased to bring in Adam Goucher and co-author of the book Run The Edge, Tim Catalano, as our celebrity guests this year. They'll be hanging out at the meet, signing autographs, starting races, and handing out awards.

But also they will be doing a interactive presentation with video, music, and slideshows on Friday night. We are mixing up this year. Rather than doing the speach at the course, we're going to get done there at the course as soon as possible (rolling awards) to get you out of there and let you go get some dinner. So after dinner and checking into your hotel, please come over to Indian River City United Methodist Church. It is just two miles east on Highway 50 from the hotels... so very convinient. We'll meet up there at the chuch at 8:00 and you can interact with Adam and Tim, get them to sign a book or whatever. And then at 8:30 they'll beging the presentation which "will have you and your athletes laughing your way to better running and inspired to do what it takes to get to the next level."

They are a fun and animated duo! So you won't want to miss it!

If you or your athletes would like signed copies of “Running the Edge,” Adam and Tim are offering a $5.00 discount off the cover price of $17.95 for all pre-orders. Email them directly at info@runtheedge.com to let them know how many books you would like (and even the names of the athletes for personalized autographs) and they will have the books ready for you at the event.
