In Her Own Words: Stefanie Kurgatt

Hello Flrunners! Cross country season has officially started and races are well under way. I am a little behind on the blogging due to massive amounts of homework and college preparation so my apologies for that. Our first official race was at the ARP- the state meet course. We lacked in some numbers because some of us including me were unable to compete due to the ACT, but the Lady Marauders did well overall and Kristin Sweeny led the team with a second place finish. Watch out for her this cross country season. As a whole team, both boys and girls it was a great first showing and is just a start to a wonderful season ahead.

Last weekend was actually my first official college visit. It was also my first time traveling by myself, which was quite the experience. I traveled all the way out to Fort Worth, Texas. I visited Texas Christian University and it was really neat. My flight got delayed so I had to wait longer than I thought before I actually left. There was a dent on the plane, but they ended up fixing the problem and safely taking us to our final destination. By the time I arrived it was really late so I ended up missing the football game. TCU won though and it was still amazing to arrive as the students were leaving the stadium in excitement. I had a lot of fun on my trip and everyone was so welcoming. I came back with more information than I can imagine and would like to thank TCU for giving me the opportunity to visit. I did not realize how exhausting it can be until I actually came back from my visit though. The next day I just wanted to sleep, but I had to come back to reality and return to my usual routine. This weekend I have another visit and I will tell you all about in my next blog. I will be making most of my visits this month and will come to a decision soon enough!

I’d like to point out the slight change in temperature as well. I do not know if this is everywhere or just in Tallahassee, but the weather has been beautiful the past three days. Let’s hope it stays like this a little though. Hope everyone has had a wonderful week and practices are going well. Good luck to everyone this weekend in the next race.

P.S. The picture is of all the seniors this year that have been with Maclay for quite some time. As I am going through this recruiting process I often think about how much I will miss them. Our team is truly like family.

Happy Running and God Speed!
