In His Own Words: Ace Brown

Hi FLrunners. Another big cross crounty meet this past weekend in Tallahassee for my Green Wave team. The FSU / Pre-State Invite at Apalachee Regional Park was so cool. The course was epic, the weather was cooler than we were used to, and the competition was tough. My team was seeded third in the Elite boys race but our number five did not have a good day and we came in fifth out of 25 teams. We were not disappointed though knowing we have the potential to be better when we are all on our ‘A’ game. I had a good race, but it was my first time on the course and felt I had a little left in the tank at the end. I finished sixth in 15:46 and was glad to gain the experience before the state meet. I will work hard so that I won’t leave anything out there then.

My team, both boys and girls also rocked our new Breast Cancer Awareness unis at the Pre-State meet. We plan on wearing them for the whole month of October.

As soon as the Elite and Invite awards were over my team and I hurried back down (6.5 hours) to Fort Myers so we could attend our Homecoming dance. I am glad to say that after a long shower and a little prep I was able to take my date out for a great dinner and awesome dance.

My next meet is the Manasota Track Club Invite on 10/13 in Sarasota, FL. I am so pumped to run the course there again because last year I was nursing a neck injury and did not have a strong race. Then I have conference, district, regional and state to finish off the regular season. In the meantime I have several college visits lined up and I am so stoked to get going with that and see where I will continue my academic and running career. Cheers to my good friend Kacy Smith on her school choice and good luck to all seniors looking towards the next level!
