Train hard, win easy. That's the motto the girls of the HTTR Tornadoes train and compete by. Since 2012, Head Coach Stephen Dunn has taught his team- a small group, consisting this year of 14 middle-school aged girls- the foundations of cross country while developing some of the best young athletes in the state.
Sarah Leinheiser of No. 10 ranked Carmel ran 17:22 this weekend, which is the second-fastest 5k time in Indiana state history behind only two-time Foot Locker Nationals champion Anna Rohrer

St. Thomas Aquinas senior Alexa Cruz added another sub 18 minute performance to her resume. Cruz notched 4A’s top time of the week with her 17:54.73 win at the 4A District 13 Championship. Check out the top 500 girls times in the state’s largest classification and see where you rank!
Ocoee junior Cole Pruim set a new personal best of 15:54.32 winning the 4A District 3 Championship. His time was the fastest of any 3A boy for the week. Take a look at the top 500 times and see where you stack up?
When things get serious, the serious get things done, and certainly that was the case with this race. With one eye on the competition, and the other on advancement, each athlete, and each team in turn, had a goal to extend their season at least one more week.

Melbourne Central Catholic junior Amanda Beach won 2A13 with the classification’s top time of 18:20.60, while the Bolles girls led by Caitlyn Collier’s 18:40.04 had four of the top ten times. Check out the top 500 2A girls times for the week. Where do you rank?
Bishop Kenny sophomore Nathan Jubran was the only runner during districts in 2A to crack sixteen minutes. Jubran won the 2A District 4 championship in 15:58.99 over Charles Hicks of Bolles who ran the second fastest time of 16:00.15. Check out the top 500 2A boys times for the week. Where do you rank?

Chris Tucker was on-site at the 3A District 3 Championship and captured over 300 photos of all the action including this one of Leon's Matthew Cashin and Adam Wallenfelsz who went 1-2 and lead the Lions to a runner-up finish.
Olivia Rovin and Luke Peterson of Shorecrest Prep score individual titles and lead the Charges to the 1A District 7 team title. Lindsey Porter was on-site and captured over 900 photos of all the action!
Alvin Bryant is one of the top two-sport athletes in the country. A sprint star and and standout on the football field at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Bryant has said he will focus on track at the next level, but isn't completely giving up the idea of doing both. The 2015 4A state champion in the 100 and runner-up in the 200 just announced he will be attending powerhouse LSU and talked to flrunners about the decision!

Lake Mary's Daniela Urzua and Lyman's Joshua Jacques were victorious at the 4A District 2 Championship while the Lyman boys and Lake Brantley girls captured team titles. Ralph Epifanio has the recap.
Teri Bernhardt-Rodriguez was on-site at the 4A District 16 Championship and captured over 400 pictures including this one of the Ferguson girls and boys who narrowly swept the team competition over rival Coral Reef.

The 4A District 6 cross country meet pitted Hillsborough County's finest against each other and even brought in the Pasco County champs (Wiregrass Ranch boys) and the Pasco County runners up (Wiregrass girls). It had to be one of the tougher district meets from top-to-bottom in the region. Still, it was the Hillsborough County champions, Plant boys and Wharton girls that held on to win district titles.
Watch every race and interviews from the the 4A District 6 Championship which featured seven guys under 17 minutes and five girls under 20 minutes!
