Damion Thomas Headed To IAAF U20 World Championships, Wins Jamaican Junior Trials 110H Todd Grasley Jun 20, 2016

Northeast High School rising senior Damion Thomas had what his father calls his best race ever in the 110mH at the Jamaican Junior Trials in Kingston. Thomas lined up against Dejour Russell of Calabar and Rohan Cole of UTech two of the fastest hurdles in the world, and came away with the win in 13.5s into a -3.2 m/s wind to earn one of two coveted spots on the island nation team for the IAAF World U20 Championship in Poland next month. 


Bolles Sophomore Caitlin Collier Finishes Fifth At Dream Mile (1500), Highest Ever By Floridian Todd Grasley Jun 18, 2016

Caitlin Collier is only a sophomore. The 2016 Adidas Boost Boston Games girls Dream Mile (1500) field consisted of nine runners, six seniors, two juniors, and Collier. The 2A state champion in the 800, 1600, and 3,200 proved she belonged with the best runners in the nation Friday night pushing the pace with the likes of Kate Murphy, Katie Rainsberger, and Nevada Mareno of North Carolina. With splits around 68 seconds for each of her first three laps, and a last 300m around 50 seconds, Collier finished with a US#6 time of 4:19.05.


Chauncy Smart, Brandon Cachon Ready To Sweep Sprint Races At Brooks PR In Seattle Todd Grasley Jun 18, 2016

Auburndale junior Chauncy Smart (pictured above with his mom) and Barron Collier senior Chauncy Smart will compete in the Brooks PR Invitational Saturday in Seattle, Washington. They will compete in the 100m dash and 400m dash respectively and be joined their female counterparts from the Sunshine State. Northeast freshman Jantaijah Ford and Stanton Prep and UGA signee Janaya Chambers will also make the trip to the west coast and compete in the quarter mile. Our national team caught up with Smart and Cachon before the meet!


Caitlin Collier's Postseason Prep: 2x600 13 Minutes Rest Todd Grasley Jun 17, 2016

Bolles sophomore Caitlin Collier is one of the top distance runners in the nation with blazing fast times from the 400 to 5k and everything in between. Collier will compete this weekend at the Adidas Boost Boston Games in the girls 1,500m run which features the most competitive field she has seen all season long. Coming off of a distance trifecta in the 800,1600, and 3,200 and nearly a month strictly working and not competing, she is fresh and ready to run. Our Zack Bias caught up with her in the midst of her postseason training to find out her goals for this weekend in Boston and beyond.


Adidas Dream 100/Mile: Florida's History By The Numbers Todd Grasley Jun 16, 2016

The Adidas Dream 100 and Dream Mile have been very kind to Florida athletes over the past five years in the events history that featured both races. In 2010, Lily Williams competed in the first individual high school race at the Adidas Grand Prix's Dream Mile in New York City. This year's event will feature five Florida athletes in the Adidas Boost Boston Games. Tamari Davis, Amuru Patterson, and Katia Seymour will run the Dream 100 while Caitlin Collier is in the girls mile which will be contested instead as 1,500m. American Heritage sophomore Anthony Schwartz is Florida's lone entrant in the boys Dream 100 and owns a PR of 10.27w.

The Adidas Dream 100 and Dream Mile have been very kind to Florida athletes over the past five years in the events history that featured both races. In 2010, Shelby Hates competed in the first individual high school race at the Adidas Grand Prix's Dream Mile in New York City and finished second. Since then Florida sprinters have won six Dream 100 titles (three boys and three girls).




Palatka's Katia Seymour Set To Show Nation Why She Is Best Sprinter At Adidas Dream 100 Zack Bias Jun 16, 2016

In the past, Palatka High School has been the joke of Jacksonville area track and field. Until the past few years, Palatka has never been relevant in postseason meets, as a team, or with individuals. That all changed when Coach Steven Gonzalez took over the program 5 years ago. This year Palatka took home multiple state titles, including 3 by Junior Katia Seymour. Seymour tore up the track this year winning the 100, 200, and anchoring the 4x100 relay team to gold at the 2A State Finals. Recently she won the Great Southwest Classic 100m in a time of 11.26. This weekend she will be taking on some of the nations best, as she competes in both the adidas Boost Boston Games, and New Balance Outdoor Nationals. She will contest the Dream 100 in Boston, and the 200 in Greensboro.


Final Rankings: Boys 4x400m Relay - Miami Northwestern Bulls Save Best For Last Todd Grasley Jun 16, 2016

Four of the top five boys 4x400m relay teams hailed from South Florida this season. The Miami Northwestern Bulls waited until the last meet of the year, the 3A state championship, to drop a state leading 3:14.22. American High School also ran 3:14, 3:14.75, with a total of twelve schools running 3:19 or better. Take a look at the top 500 boys 4x400m relay teams in the state for 2016.

Janaya Chambers Returns To Brooks PR Serves As 'Redemption Meet' Todd Grasley Jun 15, 2016

Stanton Prep senior and UGA signee Janaya Chambers won the 3A state championship in the 400m dash at the 2015 state meet running a PR of 54.17. Chambers was invited to the Brooks PR Invitational where she 5th against the nation's top athletes. In 2016, she faced some setbacks that caused her to cut her senior season short and focus on school and her health. However, she was a little surprised when she was invited back to Seattle for the 2016 Brooks PR. We talk to her about getting the invite, the road back, and her plans for Saturday.


Final Rankings: Boys 4x100m Relay - American Heritage's 40.95 Dazzled At Florida Relays Todd Grasley Jun 15, 2016

The American Heritage boys 4x100m relay team of Marco Wilson, Khalil Herbert, Patrick Surtain, and Anthony Schwartz set the bar high for the rest of the state's teams when they ran 40.95s to win the Pepsi Florida Relays. Coral Gables and Columbus came close with times of 41.13 and 41.14, while Northeast and Pine Forest clocked 41.20 on the nose. Check out the top 500 boys 4x100m relay teams for the 2016 season.


Brooks PR Spotlight: Freshman Jan'Taijah Ford Eyes Low 53, 52s 400 Todd Grasley Jun 15, 2016

Northeast High School freshman Jan'Taijah Ford had a spectacular 2016 season. Ford, or T1 as they call her, ran away with the 3A state title in the 400m dash in 54.01s and followed that up with a new personal best time of 53.77 to win Flo Golden South and give her an automatic ticket to the Brooks PR Invitational. We caught up with her to talk about her training leading up to Saturday, what she's looking forward to, and much more.
