    Marengo’s Katie Adams needed to run against Freeburg’s Kristen Busch in person and not against Busch’s time. In a rarity, Adams won the fast heat of the Class 2A 3,200 meters at the IHSA Girls Track and Field State Meet, but did not get the first-place medal.     The 20th anniversary of the Walt Disney World Marathon will give runners a unique experience.Officials said that the race in 2013 will allow runners for the first time to run along the high-banked Walt Disney World Speedway and run through Champion Stadium at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.     Boyd Anderson star Shayla Sanders capped off her senior season with three gold medals at the 4A State Finals.     Boone speedster Marvin Bracy crossed the line at the 4A State Finals with another gold medal in the 100 meter dash. It was the grimmace on his face afteward that had the everyone wondering what had happened. The senior had injured his left hamstring and opted out of running the 200.   • Warrior of the Week: Davis-White, Uruburu

    Boyd Anderson junior Kali-Davis White and Bartram Trail junior Nick Uruburu are this week's Warrior of the Week winners. Davis-White finished runner-up in both the 100 and 200 meter dash at the 4A State Finals, as well as being a member of the state championship 4x1 team. Her 26 point contribution was a major factor in the Lady Cobras winning their first state title in school history. Uruburu took home gold in the 400 with a blistering US#6 time of 46.75 and followed that up with a gold in one of the most exciting races all season as he came from behind in the 4x400 and propelled Bartram Trail to the 3A team title.

    Several days after anchoring the Lakewood Ranch ladies to a state championship in the 4x800m relay senior Devin McDermott announced she will be running collegiately for the University of Florida. She says the recruiting process was definitely overwhelming, but at the end of the day she had to focus on what was going to benefit her most and which place just felt right.

  • Warrior of the Week: Agama, Reynolds

    Dade Christian senior Aklesso Agama and Miami Jackson senior Robin Reynolds are this week's Warrior of the Week winners. Agama took two golds at the 1A State Finals winning the long jump (22-11.75) and triple jump (47-04.50). He was also a member of the fourth third place 4x1 relay team and runner-up 4x4 team. Reynolds became the winningest female track and field athlete picking up her 14th gold medal of her career. She won the long jump with a nation leading mark of 20-06.25, 100 (11.79), 400 (52.59), and lost in the 200 by a thousand of a second.

  • Warrior of the Week: Droogsma, Phillips

    Gulf Breeze junior Austin Droogsma and Rockledge sophomore Danielle Phillips our this week's Warrior of the Week winners. Droogsma picked up district championships in both the shot put and discus unleashing the implements 179-10 and 56-7. Both marks rank in the top three in the state. Phillips picked up three wins at the 2A Region 3 Championships by placing first in the long jump, triple jump and 100 hurdle. Her long jump of 19-11.5 is tops in the state and currently ranks sixth in the nation.

    Caleb Kerr never thought the option of running in college would present itself. After a break out junior year the Evansville North distance standout began hearing from schools who coveted his services. Kerr says the process was a great experience and is happy to have had the opportunity to visit many schools. In the end, it was Purdue University that received his signature.
