Orange Belt Conference Athletes Honored At BHSN Breakfast Of Champions Donald Lamb Jun 02, 2013

Bright House Sports Network honored the top athletes from Osceola county at its 4th annual Breakfast of Champions held Thursday morning at Falcons Fire golf course. The cross country athletes were Karissa Solorzano of St. Cloud High school and Rogelio Araiza of Liberty High School. The track athletes were Amber Jackson of Gateway High School and David Akins of Celebration High School.

Being a PE coach was my goal since I was in high school myself. I wasn’t exactly sure what sport I would enjoy the most, but it just so happened that track became my favorite. Osceola county (Orange Belt Conference) elementary schools have a well established track & field program in addition to a strong XC program.

 It was a gorgeous day for a track meet at Leto High school in the heart of Tampa. The 3A Region 2 track meet took place just a few miles from Raymond James Stadium in the heart of Tampa. This was round two of the state series in every athletes bid to make it to the state championships next weekend.

Osceola County and the Orange Belt Conference brought five schools to compete against the best of the Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Lakeland areas. Things got started very nicely for Liberty when junior Joshua Wilson jumped 23-04 on his second jump to put the pressure on everyone. He advanced to finals and passed his remaining jumps to walk away as regional champ, and into Jacksonville as one of the favorites to win.

 

Evans Girls, Liberty Boys Dismantle 3A District 5 Donald Lamb Apr 19, 2013

It’s the beginning of the playoffs for track & field in Florida. As the 1A & 2A schools are looking at Regional meets, class 3A & 4A are just getting started with their respective district meets. 3A District 5 took place Thursday afternoon at St. Cloud High School; which did an awesome job hosting, their hospitality makes this a great venue to host top notch meets throughout the season. Twelve local teams took to the track to battle for the right to represent their schools in Tampa next week.
