@runbarefoot For Belen it will be our 42nd year in a row. Last time we did not make it was in 1972.

I assume schools like Holy Trinity, STA, Ferguson, and John I. Leonard also have a pretty good streak going. My own Vero girls had a pretty good streak going until 2011 and we've made it every year since. But, we do have a much easier region than most.

@JcoleXC2014 HT girls qualified for the 16th year in a row. The school is only 16 years old. They have been in the top 5 13 years with 8 first, 4 seconds, and 1 third. The boys had a streak of 11 consecutive Podium Finishes end. Starting in 2002 runner ups, 2003 3rd place, 2004-2014 8 first and 3 seconds.

@coachbutler Those are some VERY impressive numbers for a school, like you mentioned, that is so young. A testament to your coaching abilities

@JcoleXC2014 Oh no James, " It doesn't matter what training plan you follow, you can follow any training plan and be successful. These kids were successful because they were smart hard working kids."

@coachbutler The quotations kinda threw me off there. While a lot of it does have to do with the athlete's drive and dedication, I still think a lot of it has to do with coaching and the program that they follow. We have students that transferred to Vero that used to run "maybe 2 miles a day" as they put it. I don't know about you, but I don't think you can make state champions using that method..

The Bolles Girls have a streak going for over 20 years that I am pretty sure no other team has (Boys or Girls teams, all classifications) . . . I would like to see if Master Stat Raposo can figure out what it is!!

@Belenxc 43rd in a row if from 1973 to 2015! Just as a point of reference... Boys XC started in Florida in 1947, this year marks the 69th state championship. Girls XC started in Florida in 1974, this year marks the 42nd state championship.

This could be a really neat article. In my eyes, its similar to how we keep track of the coaches/schools with state titles. If we could compare schools on how many years, either in a row or just in general, they have qualified for the state finals, it would be pretty awesome.

This past weekend, Vero Beach had a few School Bests: Girls first Region Championship as a team (even though in 2010 we were 3rd in the state, we were also in the region of death) Boys highest Regional placement (Runner-up) and highest individual placement from Joe Granberg as he was also runner-up. Congrats to John I. Leonard and Ilio Sanchez for capturing both the individual and team title. For those that don't know, the top 3 schools were separated by a mere 20 points. JIL-64 VB-70 Spanish River-84. Watching the race and those finishing, it was impossible to say who won.

I think that total state finals appearances is also worth mentioning-indicates which programs are historically the most consistently successful yet allows the leeway of a down year or two. The stats for my old high school,1A Miami Country Day School (from what I've found) are (top 10 placements indicated): Boys (15): 1992, 1993, 1994-3rd, 1995-3rd, 1996-4th, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014-9th, 2015. (An individual in 1984, and another in 1991) Girls (17): 1983-4th, 1985-8th, 1993, 1994-7th, 1995-10th, 1996, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009-10th, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015. (An individual in 1984, another in 2000, and 2 individuals in 2002).

Beginning in 1982, Glenn Lee's Cardinal Gibbons Lady Chiefs made 23 consecutive appearances at the state finals. After missing out in 2005 (finishing 7th by one point at regional) and 2006 (finishing 7th in a tiebreaker at regional), the Lady Chiefs qualified last Thursday for the 9th consecutive year. So, 32 out of the last 34, with 16 finishes in the top six at the state meet, including 10 straight in the top six at states from 1991-2000.
