Nike Plus Sports Band

  • #1 Nike Plus Sports Band
Anyone need help using or need more information? This is a great product that will help motivate you to put in the miles and run faster. I will be visiting local tracks in Orlando to help people learn how to use the system and let anyone use my system to see how it works.

This is a great tool for someone that doesn't like using the Ipod when running (like me)...gives pace, mileage, etc...and with most Nike Running Shoes being Plus Enabled, all you need is the chip ($29.00 retail) and the Band around $50....nice technology at an affordable price...

I'll try to do this without turning it into an advertisement for my employer but the SportBand is pretty cool. It's the Nike+ system without the iPod. The band (USB watch) and chip retail together for about 60 dollars at stores and online. Other than shoes you don't need to make any other purchase. It's a great alternative to the much more expensive GPS watches.

I don't think they have it for Asics or other type of running shoe, although Adidas has a smart shoe of its own for running that is technology driven in the sense it adjust to where you are running but is like $250...but that doesn't give pace or distance like the Nike plus does.

I have NEVER been a fan of Nike trainers but I have changed. I am currently training in the Pegasus, Elite's, and Vomero's. I love them all. They have made a lot of changes to their training shoes, making them more flexible, lighter, and ...........better. The sportband is a nice little package too. Just make sure not to get it wet, or dry it out when done running. If it breaks, Nike replaces it for FREE!!! Sounds good to me.

google nike + pouch and you can find something you attach to your laces to hold the nike sensor so that you can use them with other shoes.

i have yet to purchase the band but will do so soon.

reading reviews they are mixed. it seems like the technology is still pretty new so there will likely be bugs and failurs, and then rapid improvement in the product with each new generation.

Nike watches haven't been good for me. Simple thunderstorms penetrate the "water proof" watches. I have read that the band is very water sensitive. might not be great for the humid and sweaty conditions.

but anything that helps provide feedback for running performance is worth a trial investment.

In response to run4nease's inquiry you can use Nike plus with other brands of shoes, you just have to buy an extra insert that fits nicely in the shoe. I know they sell them at Track Shack in Orlando so I'm guessing they sell them at running stores nationwide. If u google it u can find simple solutions like that to use Nike Plus on any brand of shoe.

Looks like the person above me answered it well...as I edit
