Before I bring this to FLYRA for final approval and then announce this. I want to propose to you all the 2012 qualifying standards I am thinking of for the state meet. Please give me your thoughts.

Keep in mind that, like last year, you can either qualify by hitting these standards at any meet designated as a qualifier OR by winning your event at a "regional championship" meet.

I have toughened up some of the standards here. This is a testament to both middle school track getting stronger in the state and to more people participating in our state series. The three main things I consider are...

    1) How many people made the standard in last year's rankings (I target around top 35-40)
    2) How many people actually came and participated in the state meet and how many made those marks there (target about 14-21 depending on the event)
    3) Take into consideration that some events aren't contested very much so those may have a lower number of qualifiers (like the 3K, 200H, triple jump, pole vault). Or split between multiple events (like 1500/1600).

    So here they are...

    Event Girls Boys
    100m 13.25 12.00
    200m 27.50 24.50
    400m 64.00 56.00
    800m 2:40.00 2:18.00
    1500m 5:35.00 4:50.00
    1600m* 6:00.00 5:10.00
    3000m 12:10.00 11:00.00
    3200m* 13:00.00 11:45.00
    100H 18.75 17.00
    200H 35.00 30.00
    300H* 53.00 45.00
    4x100 54.00 49.00
    4x400 4:40.00 4:00.00
    4x800 11:30.00 9:50.00
    Shot Put 30-00.00 38-0.00
    Discus 75-00.00 105-0.00
    Long Jump 15-00.00 17-6.00
    Triple Jump 28-00.00 32-0.00
    High Jump 4-6.00 5-0.00

I am in favor of a system of qualifinig times & distances to go to State Meet, I feel that the boys shot put is too low, you should set it at 40'

the 3k is too crowded i think having kids running in the low 9's all the way up to 11:00+ can be quite chaotic will lapping, passing, etc. it should be lowered a good amount

Will there be a regional meet in the central florida area? If not, will the Holy Trinity Youth Meet on April 21st count as a qualifier? Thanks

@stcrcoach Meet directors who are interested in having their meet recognized as a qualifier need to contact myself or FLYRA to request this. I have not had anyone in Central Florida yet ask to host regional championship meet nor have I heard from Holy Trinity about their meet.
