Field Events
Prelims and Finals for a specific event will be completed the same day. Please note the schedule below since boys and girls
are split and compete on different days.
Wednesday, March 21
Time: 4:30 p.m. Long Jump Prelims & Finals B
Triple Jump Prelims & Finals G
Discus Throw Prelims & Finals B
Shot Put Prelims & Finals G
Pole Vault Prelims & Finals B
High Jump Prelims & Finals G
Shot, Disc, Long Jump and Triple Jump Field event athletes will compete in prelims and finals in the same night.
Athletes will be seeded according to the best mark sent in by their coach. Each athlete will get 3 attempts. Top 8 from the
East and top 8 from the West will advance to the Finals. In the Finals each athlete will get 3 more attempts. East flights will
go first to allow West schools more time to arrive.
High Jump and Pole Vault Athletes will be seeded according to the best mark sent in by their coach. Each event will run
to completion the day it is scheduled. East flights will go first to allow West schools more time to arrive.

4 x 800 Meter Relay will be run in one heat for the girls and one heat for the boys, seeded according to their time
submitted. East and West will be separated out at the finish.
Qualify for Friday Top 8 from the East and top 8 from the West in the running prelims will advance to Thursday. Time
and place will be used to advance to fill the 8 places.
Distance events Top 10 times from the East and top 10 times from the West in the 800 and 1600 Meter Run will
automatically qualify for the finals on Friday and will not run on Wednesday. All 3200 Meter runners will run on Thursday.
Those athletes not in the top 10 in the 800 and 1600 Meter Run will run at the appropriate time on Wednesday. We will get a
performance list sent out so coaches can see where their athletes stand. To save time we will run the East and West
competitors together in the 1600 and 3200.
Running finals top 8 athletes from the East and top 8 athletes from the West on Wednesday will be seeded according to
their place and time on Wednesday to be run in 2 heats, one East and one West.
800 and 1600 Meter Run Top 10 athletes from the East and top 10 athletes from the West with verifiable times in the 800
and 1600 Meter Run will automatically qualify for the finals on Friday (we will use the posted performance list which is to
come). Athletes not in the top 10 in the 800 and 1600 Meter Run will run on Wednesday and are eligible for a place if their
time from Wednesday is faster than the 8th place time on Friday.
3200 Meter Run All 3200 Meter runners will run on Thursday. East and West will run in the same heat and will be
separated after the finish.
4 x 400 Meter Relays Since for the East and West have more than 8 teams, we will look at the performance list to verify
times in seeding the teams. There must be a minimum of 3 teams in the slow heat.
4 x 100 Meter Relays Since this is one meet spread over two days, athletes are still limited to 4 events, no more than 3
running. If an athlete is entered in a prelim event but does not advance to competition on Thursday, that still counts as one of
their events. (i.e. an athlete is entered in the 100, 200 and 400, they qualify in the 200 and 400 for Thursday but not the 100.
Since they ran in 3 prelim events on Wednesday they are not able to be on the relay team on Thursday even though they are
only in 2 events on Thursday)
Scratches Since this is one meet spread over two days, athletes that scratch from an event are not able to compete in any
additional events (i.e. an athlete does not show up for their 100 prelim on Wednesday, they cannot compete in any other
events Wednesday or Thursday)
Entries Each school is allowed 3 entries per running or field event and one relay in each relay event. Online Entry must be

Scratch Meeting We will hold a scratch meeting at Winter Park High School on Monday, March 19, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in
the West cafeteria. At this meeting you will be able to make any changes you would like but once we leave the meeting, all
entries become final. No changes will be made after that. We will also make field event assignments and discuss any other
details that need to be addressed.
