ORLANDO, FL --
Nothing is more fun in high school sports than a long road trip with a team that has great chemistry. The Warriors of Western Albemarle and their two coaches, Cherie Witt and Carin Ward, will attest to this as they boogie in Disney World.
The Warriors won the AAA division of the Disney World Classic on Saturday at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex's 3.0-mile course. Their very low score of 40 points defeated Saint Thomas of Boca Raton, FL.
The Western girls placed their top 5 in the top 15 of the race. Senior Delaney Moje led her team to victory, finishing second in a time of 18:40. Following Moje into the chute were: Emily Thompson (6th, 19:03), Gina Casella (7th, 19:05), Kelsey Stafford (13th, 19:30), and Amber Cadle (16th, 19:47). The 1:07 spread between Western's top five was excellent, especially considering Moje's great race.
