Dorrell wins Florida Relays 3200 in 9:10...are we experiencing a AA glory days resurgence??? MileSplit Staff Apr 7, 2007

The glory days of AA distance running appears to be returning back to the level of the early part of the decade when the likes of Bobby Lockhart, John Crews, Fleet Hower, Bryce Ruiz, and Danny Kane dominated the state scene over the state's AAA runners. Jamestown's Andrew Mearns busted out a 8:39 3K (equivalent to a 9:17 3200) at the Colonial Fridays and Blacksburg junior Peter Dorrell topped that run on Saturday at the Florida Relays at the University of Florida. After taking second in the 1600 meter run to one of the country's top returning middle distance runners in Joseph Franklin in a personal best time of 4:15 on Friday evening at the Florida Relays, Dorrell followed up in the 3200 meter on Saturday at UF with a 9:10.00 victory over Florida's best.

While many head off to their spring break destinations to do anything but running, Blacksburg junior Peter Dorrell was out to take care of business while in sunny Florida as he ran a personal best 1600 meter time of 4:15.72 to finishing second at the Florida Relays hosted by the University of Florida in Gainesville. He picked a great race to produce his best time with 7 runners in the race at 4:20 faster with Joseph Franklin taking the win in 4:14.64. The Blacksburg junior now has the fastest time in the state, but it may be shortlived depending on Axel Mostrag's performance in the mile Saturday at the Arcadia Invite. New: Video of Dorrell's race!
