WMC headlines: Wegener's 51.84, Fellows 51-7 1/4 ,O'Brien's 16-7 3/4, Lobely 5:29.6 Jan 08, 2011

The WMC (Western Maine Conference) indoor season got underway today at USM. In the first meet, Falmouth standout Will Wegener was impressive clocking 6.74 for the 55m, then following it up with a state leading 51.84 in th 400m. Amamda Peterson (GNG) open with two wins, 7.69 (55m) & 27.94 in the 200m. In meet 2 the shot put on the boys side was the event of the meet, as 3 throwers were out over 48ft, Jack Fellows (Greely) rose to the challenge heaving a state leading 51-7 1/4. In the girls long jump, Carly O'Brien (Traip) added 6 plus inches to the state leader with her 16-7 3/4 leap, York's Emily Mitchell also got out to 16'0. Greely's Sam Mason popped off 20-2 1/2 for a Class B leader.
