Jupiter's Ali Del Re didn't toe the line for this week's 4A District 16 Championship. Instead, Del Re, ranked third in 4A, and the fourth best freshman in the state of Florida was on the sidelines, wearing a boot on her right foot, and cheering on her teammates after a stress fracture in her right ankle caused her to cancel her postseason plans.

Over the past three years, Alexandra Del Re has been making a name for herself on the track. Del Re, who goes by Ali, had a stellar performance at both the middle school state meet and the USATF Junior Olympics. Not only did she win her 3000 meter race at the state meet, but she also broke the middle school state record running 10:04.16. This fall she makes her cross country debut as a freshman at Jupiter High School. Del Re is expected to not only make noise in Palm Beach County, but in a loaded class 4A. We caught up with Ali to talk about how she started in the sport, her summer training, goals for 2016, and much more.
The 2014-2015 school year has provided some great highlights in both cross country and track across the Sunshine State. In the coming weeks many of our seniors will head out to start their college careers both athletically and academically. We wanted to salute them one more time in this special feature and say thank you for your support over the years.
Courteney Zboyan knows what it is like to overcome adversity. As a freshman, she won the Palm Beach County XC title and finished 7th in the 3,200m at the 4A state meet. She suffered injuries three of the next four seasons, but battled back to win districts and regionals in cross country her senior season Zboyan, who was 26th at the state meet and 10th with a new personal best at the FACA Senior All-Star meet talks about her recent commitment to the University of North Florida.
Jupiter senior Courteney Zboyan finished first at the 4A District 10 Championship and guided her team to a runner-up finish. On the boy's side, John I Leonard placed five in the top eight to win the team title led by individual champion Ilio Sanchez. Toni Gariano was on-site and took over 100 photos of all the action!
Courteney Zboyan's first year of running varsity girls cross-country last season might have surprised some who didn't expect a freshman to dominate the local races she entered.
