Steinbrenner freshman Ken'naria Gadson has shown her range early in the season running the 200, 400, and 800m. Gadson's personal bests of 25.32 and 56.01 at the George Jenkins Invitational and 2.19.83 Broward Elite Athletic Club Indoor/Outdoor Preseason Showcase have her ranked fourth, first, and second respectively in those events. We look at the top 50 girls in EVERY event for the class of 2020. Where do you stack up against your peers?
The Southridge girls finished just six points behind 4A state champions Lakewood Ranch in 2016. It's an impressive feat when you take into account they didn't come in first in any event. Of the point scorers on that squad, they return all but two members, including sprinters Symone Mason, Shaniya Williams, and Kayla Johnson, as well as jumper Courtney Gibson and are the favorites to bring home the title.
The Embry Riddle Challenge on Saturday will give several high school athletes from around the state the opportunity to compete with and against college athletes. The meet schedule boasts indoor events on the school's outdoor track.
The United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced their Cross Country Coaches Of The Year for the state of Florida earning the honor on the girl's side is Ladd Baldwin of 4A state champion Steinbrenner, while Ken Vinal and Mike Hill picked up the award on the boy's side for coaching Trinity Prep to their 4th straight 2A state championship.

She became one of only six girls from the class of 2019 to break 19 minutes on the year. We rank the top 500 girls sophomore times for the 2016 cross country season.

The Creekside boys won their second straight 3A Cross Country Finals championship beating Chiles by ten points, and a team average of 16:15 Was their performance the best by a team at state? YOU DECIDE. Voting closes September 15th at 11:59 p.m.
The top five returning teams from the 2016 Cross Country Finals all made the podium including top ranked Pine Crest in 2A and Niceville in 3A (pictured above). The Panthers lose only one girl in their top five that ALL placed in the top 20. That group consisted of three freshmen and one 8th grader! Niceville loses two seniors, but will rely heavily on roster that includes three seniors, a junior, and a sophomore in 2017. Chiles, Bolles, and 4A champion Steinbrenner round out the top five. Take a look at the top 25 as well as a link to the complete list. Where do you and your team rank?
The Pine Crest girls broke the streak of runner-up finishes after finishing behind Bolles the past four years. This year, the Panthers defeated the Bulldogs running an 18:41 team average, the 4th best team average in Florida State Finals history, scoring 29 points (8th lowest in State history). We merged the results of every classification to find out the top girls teams regardless of class. Where does your squad stack up?
Bailey Hertenstein and Kayley Delay came into the 4A Cross Country Finals with the top two times regardless of class. In the end it was Hertenstein who came away with her second straight title. On the team front, Steinbrenner ended a two year run by Winter Park at the top of the podium. Matt Doyle of Winter Springs won his first state title to end his senior cross country season, while St. Thomas Aquinas took their third team trophy in four years. Andy Warrener recaps the class 4A meet.
In the state's largest classification 4A, three of the four state champion individuals and teams from 2015 have a good chance to repeat in 2016. The easiest perhaps is in the team races where the Winter Park girls are looking for their third straight while the St. Thomas Aquinas boys are favorites to go back to back with their core nucleus. Bailey "Hurricane" Hertenstein is the reigning girls champion, is ranked number one, and has lost one race in her whole career as a junior. On the boy's side the title is up for grabs with a group of runners all relatively close in time and skill. We take an in-depth look at the 4A meet.
Bailey Hertenstein smashed the Holloway Park course record in a time of 18:13.83 with freshman teammate in second place with a time of 18:58.22. On the boy's side it came down to a sprint to the finish with Jordan Gonzalez of Sarasota giving the Sailors a regional champion for the second straight year. Steinbrenner girls dominated with 46 pts. while the Lakewood Ranch boys edged out Newsome by four points 85 to 89. Andy Warrener recaps all the action from 4A Region 2.
Riverview junior Bailey Hertenstein is one of only three girls to ever break 19 minutes on the Holloway Park course. Hertenstein's 18:40.70 was the top ranked mark, but she crushed that at the 4A Region 2 Championship winning in a time of 18:13.18. Equally impressive was freshman teammate Alyssa Hendrix who added her name to the best times in course history with a sub 19 mark of 18:58.22 as the runner-up. Due to their success, the Sharks claimed the sixth and final spot as a team for the state meet.
It's regionals week! 4A, Florida's largest cross country classification, will kick off the road to state at the regional level as athletes head to South Florida on Thursday for 4A Region 4. We preview all four regionals in addition to seeing how our virtual meets see things playing out. It's going to be a crazy ride as the top individuals and teams hope to advance to Tallahassee for the Cross Country Finals on November 5th.
The Niceville girls are undefeated this season in competition, while Pine Crest's lone loss came against our third best team, Winter Park, and without one of their top runners Simone Vreeland. Unfortunately for fans across the state, two of the top squads will not face off as the Eagles are in 3A and the Panthers in 2A. Our XC team scores show an all classes battle would give Niceville a three point advantage.
Having already asserted themselves at the Hillsborough County meet a week ago and all but one meet they competed in this season, the Steinbrenner Warriors swept both boys and girls titles at Al Lopez Park in Tampa.

Andy Warrener caught this photo of the boy's varsity race at the Hillsborough County Championships as runners go all out from the gun. This photo plus over 800 more from the meet.
Over three dozen teams will head to Al Lopez Park in Tampa for the site of the Hillsborough County Championships. County pride is on the line as is an undefeated win streak for Riverview's Bailey Hertenstein, and a battle of four girls teams ranked in our latest Flo 50 rankings. On the boy's side Haftom Fliegelman of Durant looks to break 16 minutes and improve on his 4th place showing from 2015 while Steinbrenner and Newsome duke it out for the team title. The 20th Annual Land O' Lakes Gator Invitational, recently renamed the Keppel Invite after late Gator coach Kris Keppel went off on Saturday at Crews Lake Park in Spring Hill. On the girls side, Melbourne Central Catholic's senior Amanda Beach as well as the Steinbrenner girls dominated the seeded race, while Joshua Collins of Belen Jesuit won the individual title and guided his Wolverines to the team championship. Ricky Quintana recaps all the action.
Melbourne Central Catholic senior Amanda Beach continued her fantastic season by jumping out front in the girls seeded race at the UF Mt. Dew Invitational and never coming close to being challenged as she ran away from the field. Her time of 18:28.80 was over 25 seconds better than runner-up Leigha Torino of North Marion, and Jen Lima of East Lake who both broke 19 minutes as well.

The varsity athletes get most of the love, but we wanted to see who were the top JV athletes and teams around the state. Power programs like Niceville, Bolles, and Winter Park are loaded with depth, but it's the Eagles, who own the top spot in our team scores with their #8-14 runners averaging a time of 21:01.66 and a 1-5 split of just 36 seconds!
At Belen Jesuit they have a tradition of winning and excellence and that starts at the middle school level with coach Victor Arrieta to the junior varsity and varsity programs under head coach Frankie Ruiz. The reason why the Wolverines have been one of the most dominant teams in the last decade is because the athletes are constantly motivated to see what their predecessors have done before them. See which squads made our list of the top boys JV teams so far this season.

Winter Park claimed the last two 4A crowns and lose only two of their seven athletes from that championship squad. Rafaella Gibbons, an NXN qualifier, and 2014 individual state champion, will lead the Wildcats that have a team average under 19 minutes and will benefit from Dr. Phillips' transfer Charis Ivey. Sarasota and Wharton who finished second and third last year will battle for that second podium spot. We look at the top ten teams in the state's largest classification.
Of all the classifications nobody is favored to win more than the boys of St. Thomas Aquinas. The 2015 4A state champions return five of their top seven and have an incredible 1-5 split of 21.89s! The real battle will be for second place where Lakewood Ranch, North Port, Sarasota, and Newsome all have a shot to make the podium and will rely on the back end of their line up to get there. We take a look at the top ten boys teams in 4A.

The meet schedule kicks off early with some field events starting as early as 8am and can be seen LIVE on MileSplit.
Inclement weather nearly torpedoed the Vernon Korhn Hillsborough County Track and Field Championships Tuesday. The 4x800m got off and a few field events got scored before a deluge and lightning forced everyone indoors. Meet officials elected to postpone the meet until later in the evening and run timed finals. It proved to be the right call as the weather relented and the rest of the meet ran smoothly.
Andy Warrener was on-site at the 2016 Hillsborough County Championships at Jefferson High School and captured over 200 photos of all the action including this one of your team champions from Steinbrenner High School who swept both the girls and boys titles!
There's a lot of history in the 54th Annual Ed Wells Kiwanis Invite. Meet records still hold from the mid-90s, even some from the 70s and 80s. A few meet records fell on Friday at Clearwater High School, albeit on the girls side with a shorter meet history.

Belen Jesuit had the top freshmen and also has the top runners based on the class of 2018 lead by Joshua Collins, but don't count out Bolles they are only eight points back.
The 4A District 6 cross country meet pitted Hillsborough County's finest against each other and even brought in the Pasco County champs (Wiregrass Ranch boys) and the Pasco County runners up (Wiregrass girls). It had to be one of the tougher district meets from top-to-bottom in the region. Still, it was the Hillsborough County champions, Plant boys and Wharton girls that held on to win district titles.
