When sixteen year old Tyrese Cooper steps onto the famed Armory Track in New York for this weekend's Armory Track Invitational he won't be racing against his high school peers. Cooper, who last raced at the venue a year ago at New Balance Indoor Nationals, has his eyes set on the stars of the next level, the best the college and the pro ranks have to offer.Cooper feels he belongs and why shouldn't he? As a freshman, he set indoor national records in the 60m, 200, and 400. Three weeks ago at the VA Showcase he made even more history, blazing an US#2 All-Time 500m mark of 1:01.88 to go with a National Record 33.03 in the 300m dash.
Tyrese Cooper didn't come with a lot of pomp and circumstance back in 2014 as a 7th grader at the FLYRA Middle School State Championship, but after seeing him sweep the 100 (10.71w), 200 (21.81w), and 400 (49.52) he definitely opened up the eyes of everyone in the IMG Academy stands. Relive history in the making as Cooper made his middle school state meet debut and followed it up with three meet records as an 8th grader.

Sixteen year old freshman Jamal Walton might not be running on the high school scene this season, but he doesn't need too. Watch Walton dominate a field of college runners at the Hurricane Invitational Meet and run the fastest 400m time in the country this year of 46.80.
The Miami Gardens XPress Track Club racked up the hardware at the 2014 FLYRA Middle School State Championships in Bradenton. The club took home both the boys and girls team titles. Jamal Walton was the team's star last year sweeping the 100,200 and 400 meter dashes and was on hand to witness the action again this year. Tyrese Cooper picked up where his teammate left off accomplishing the same feat by posting times of 10.71, 21.81 (4.3 mph wind), and 49.52. In the distance events, meet records were broken with stellar showings from both Joey Fitzpatrick and Rafaella Gibbons.
