The 2017 cross country season is gearing up with preseason classics around the state. None are larger than the Cecil Field Pre-Season Classic which welcomes over two dozen teams to the Jacksonville area. We take a look at both the girls and boys individual and team battles in our virtual meet.

1A Girls Team Rankings: Title Race Wide Open, Top Three Separated By FIVE Points Todd Grasley Aug 2, 2016

The Oak Hall girls have been a podium mainstay of the 1A Cross Country Finals the past few years, but finished fourth in 2015 after winning the 1A Region 2 Championship. The Eagles are coming off a state title in track and have one of the most experienced squads in 1A. However, this year might be one of the closest team battles with Westminster Christian, Oak Hall, and Maclay separated by 5 points, and defending state champion Circle Christian returning five of their top seven. 

1A Boys Team Rankings: Maclay Returns Four Of Top Seven From 2015 Runner-Up Team Todd Grasley Aug 2, 2016

The Maclay boys finished second in 2015 by fourteen points to Father Lopez. The Marauders return four of their top seven including a trio of James McClure, Jake Mazziotta, and Clay Milford who have the potential to finish in the top ten overall.  Coach Droze knows all about winning and tradition and will face a stiff test from Bishop Snyder. We rank the top 10 boys teams in 1A.

Mud and Puddles Didn't Stop Runners At Ponte Vedra XC Invitational Todd Grasley Sep 29, 2013

The Ponte Vedra High School cross country course was a "tad' muddy this weekend for the Sharks Invitational. Despite the conditions Rayford James and Hannah Giangaspro came out with individual victories while the Bartram Trail boys and Providence School girls came away with team titles. Mike Leary was on-site with over 900 photos of all the action!

Dunn Heads South To Owl Country Todd Grasley Jan 23, 2013

Providence senior Danielle Dunn has had a successful career in North Florida. As a junior she helped Providence win the 1A cross country state championship. She followed that up with a runner-up finish in the 800 at the 1A state meet. Recently, Dunn announced she will head south to Boca Raton to run for Florida Atlantic University.

Scouting Reports: Providence Girls Todd Grasley Aug 26, 2012

Providence proved it was the best team in all of 1A last year when they won the Cross Country Finals at Little Everglades Ranch. This year the team looked poised to possibly repeat as champions until their number one runner decided to transfer for her freshman year. Danielle Van Liere who finished sixth last year as an 8th grader has switched schools to Fletcher. The good news for Providence coach Jeanie Jackson is that four of her top five return for 2012.
