States! Here we come :) It is going to be nice to back at Little Everglades. Our girls team has surpassed any expectations that we had in the beginning of the season. This has been an amazing season with a Cinderella Ending. Who would have suspected Gulf as a top contender after loosing Ajla for the beginning of the season Natalie for almost the entire season to an injury and three freshman on the squad. But, the girls pulled together and showed that Gulf is back and in top form with no where to go, but UP!
Leading the way today was Angela Way with a 17th place finish. Angela had her best time of the season with a 20:29 and was the TOP PLACING FRESHMAN in our Region Meet.
Renee Patnode and Ajla Spidojic really pulled through and ran a 21:18 squeaking in to the top 30 finishing 29th and 30th overall.
Natalie Smith coming in with her best time of the season and stepping up when one of runner was struggling to come in with a 21:45 and in 41st place.
Brook Rossi, although struggled, managed to hang in strong and finish with a 21:52, good enough for a 43rd place finish.
Mia Savino inching closer to breaking the 22:00 mark with a 22:05 placing 48th overall
Rounding out our team was Rachael Patnode, with an amazing kick to end with a 22:29.
Nick Buliga ended his season today. Although, not what he expected and what we hoped for, Nick had an amazing season. Nick has ended with the #1 Top Sophomore time of 16:40. Nick logged in over 1000 miles for the season and has become a true leader for our up and coming boys program. Look for Nick to be one of the best runners in the State next season as he trains hard in quest of his goals! Good Luck to him and his very young team.
What an exciting day yesterday! I know that it has been awhile since an update (sorry, I've been busy), so I will cover the District Meet from yesterday and then the Conference Meet.
Our girls were FLYING! Our girls pulled out a Second Place finish with team average of 21:37. And, as a team victory, the girls had all seven of our runners in front of Wiregrass's #7! The first time this season we have done that--Great Job Girls!
Reclaiming her spot as our #1 Lady Buc was Angela Way running an amazing 20:47 to place 13th overall. Angela also is now our #1 Lady on the Top 5 All-Times List for freshmen by 19 seconds.

Brooke Rossi finished right behind Renee with a time of 21:36 for 20th place.
Ajla Spijodic finished in the top 25 in a very talented field with a time of 21:52

Don't forget to VOTE on our webpage for Athlete of the Week :)
Great Job everyone! Our next race is on Friday Night in Dade City. Look for a great come back by Natalie Smith, who will be joining us off of her injury.
For goal setting, Friday's race will determine who will run Varsity in the Conference Meet on Saturday October 23 at Starkey Park!
So, I am sure most of you have heard that Key West was a lot of fun. Our teams raced very well in a tough field of runners. Of course, Snorkeling was a blast, and it wouldn't have been the same had we not held up the boat for one our our athletes. Brooke Rossi, decided to return to a different Fury Boat.
I would like to commend our team on their behavior, as we were complemented by the FURY captain, and asked to return next season by the KW Coach.
There certainly was no PR's on this course with its 48 hills, but we had some kids really race awesome.
Starting with the girls this time:
As a team the girls placed 5th with an average of 25:12
Angela Way reclaimed her spot as the #1 Lady Buccaneer finishing 21 overall with a time of 24:24.
Brooke Rossi came in as our #2 runner this race running 24:59 placing 26th overall
Mia Savino had her best race of the season placing 3rd for GHS and 28th overall
For the boys:
Nick Buliga placed 12th overall with a time of 18:29 which is the 40th fastest time on the Key West Course, running 50 seconds faster than 2009 and placing better in a much tougher field.
Jackson Raymond ran amazing once he kicked his shoes off, placing 2nd for the team and finishing in a time of 20:57
Athletes, please don't forget to vote for Athlete of the week. There are TWO races to consider, The West Pasco Invite and the Key West XCursion.
Good morning all!
Yesterday was filled with awesome performances! We yet again have another email that will be quite long, because of all the unbelievable performances :)
In a surprise turn of events, Gulf Girls actually pulled off the Win yesterday! We tied with Ridgewood and our 6th girl (Mia Savino) beat RW's number 6 by 2 seconds, having us win :) Great job ladies, this goes to show that EVERY place does matter. We had seven runners place in the top 15 and ten runners in the top 20! Way to go Ladies!

For the boys, we had some really impressive performances, and we had our best placing of the season. Our boys team pulled out a 3rd place finish, and we were missing Matt, a important factor in our varsity team.
Leading the way once again was Nick Buliga, he finished 2nd overall with a time of 17:40
Finally breaking that 20 minute mark was Dustin Demattia and Mike Keller running 19:37 and 19:57 respectively. Both boys have been working very hard to break into the 19's. Mike's new PR is 22 seconds faster than his previous time of 20:19.

Please send your results asap to email@example.com and to firstname.lastname@example.org so I can get you mentioned for all of your efforts.
Great job to everyone yesterday :)
What a weekend. Coach and I cannot express how proud of our teams we are. Everyone went out there and raced like champions. This email will be quite long, due to the unbelievable amount of outstanding performances.
Starting off with our boys team: Our boys averaged only 13 seconds slower than last season when we combine our top 5 fastest times! That is amazing given the lack of depth that we have on our team. Our top five consists of only one senior and the rest are freshman and sophomores. Our average for this race was 19:38.
Leading our boys team was Nick Buliga. Nick finished 7th among Pasco County runners with a blazing time of 17:32 which puts him on the top 5 list at #3. He also finished more than a minute faster than last season.
Matt Abdallah made his come back this race. After suffering from very bad shin splints, he is finally able to help out our team. He finished with a time of 19:55 and is more than 4 minutes faster than last season.
Dustin Demattia pulled out yet another awesome race. After being sick last week, he still managed to race awesome and almost break 20:00--finishing with an official time of 20:03.
Jackson Raymond really came through for our team this week. Jackson posted our 4th fastest time for our boys with a 20:15 (a personal best by 30+ seconds), and was our 2nd varsity runner to finish!
Mike Keller, although he did not post a season best, ran almost a minute faster than he did last season at this race with a 20:25.
Brandon Agnew is showing that he will hold a varsity spot this season running, yet another PR of 21:05. Finishing as our 6th fastest runner of the day.
Domenic Crisafulli was finally able to break through that 22:00 mark and finish with a time of 21:54. Now he is able to start focusing on breaking 21:00
Rafael Compares and Patrick Sarris is coming into shape, after only a short time out here is is already breaking 26:00 with an official time of 25:33
For our ladies: Our girls ran awesome! We actually started off the season with an average of 23:11, 45 seconds faster than last season. And, we have some key runners missing from our varsity. This is just proof that our team is really shaping up despite how young we are.
Leading the girls was again, Angela Way. She is surprising all of us with her determination in those races. She ran another PR by a minute from the last race with a 22:32. There really is no telling what she is capable of accomplishing this season, after posting the 12th fastest time within the county.
Right on her heals was Renee Patnode with a 22:41, tieing her PR for this season. And, clocking in with the 13th fastest time within the county.
Brooke Rossi seems to have recovered from giving blood and is back into serious mode. She ran a huge PR with a time of 22:51 and the 15th fastest time in the county.
Mia Savino is living up to expectations by posting another fine race and finishing 18th overall in the county. She ran another PR with a time of 23:27
Ajla Spidojic posted our 5th fastest time of the day with a 24:28, which is a season best after coming off of a very bad hip injury this summer.
Judith Young finished as our 5th varsity runner and posted another amazing PR by over a minute with a time of 24:41.
Melissa Schiedenhelm was one of the most impressive performances of the day! She broke 25:00 minutes for the first time since she started running posting a 24:54. Which is almost 3 minutes faster than she ran last season! All that summer mileage is paying off!!
Rachel Enerson posted a season best time of 25:10, and running 27 seconds faster than last season. Despite her very busy week schedule she is putting in the mileage to see some gains!
Brooke Maestas ran another PR, by almost a minute breaking 26:00 for the first time. My first instinct was right, and she may be a contender for a top 7 spot by the end of the season!
Shadia "Yaboob" ran like a beast, posting a 26:38 for her first 5k, coming off of an injury.
Maria Pantoja posted a season best time of 28:08 running over a minute faster than she did last season and suffering from an injury!
Bernadette Anderson is starting to shape up again! She posted a 28:49 for her first race back off of her injury and ran almost 30 seconds faster than last season!
Casey Siena and Kristi Niece, broke that 30:00 mark! They have been focused on this since the summer time. 29:17 and 29:44 respectively, are their new PR's. I assume that they will not be settling for this, and are already focused of breaking 29:00
Kari Grippo also raced on Saturday posting a very impressive time of 18:37 at the Race for a Cure. She is showing those boys who is the boss (GIRLS!), by finishing 3rd overall and was the 1st female!
I just wanted to let you know what a huge success yesterday was. We had huge improvements, and on such a tough course. It is shaping up to be an amazing year. Here are a few highlights:
Nick Buliga ran 17:53 which is 1:29 faster than he started off last season!
Dustin Demattia ran a 20:12. WOW! these freshman boys are really improving fast.
Mike Keller ran 20:19 which is 3:37 faster than last season!! We can expect big things from Mike this season :)
Jackson Raymond ran 20:50, a huge improvement here, by almost a minute.
Brandon Agnew ran 21:39, which is awesome since he has only been running 2 weeks!
On the girls side,
Kari started off very strong with a 19:38 official time, I am sure everyone cannot wait to see what this very talented young lady can accomplish this season.
Brooke Rossi stepped up to the plate and ran a very impressive 23:04. This girl will be making a splash when she learns how to really race.
Mia Savino broke 24:00 for the first time running 23:55. This was a well deserved time for this young lady who has been struggling with illness and small injuries. Way to go!
Rachae Patnode is not going to give her varsity spot away! She ran 24:25 which is more than a minute improvement from last year!
Angela Way really impressed us running right behind Rachael securing a varsity spot with 24:31
Brooke Davis, what can we say? WOW! she ran a 25:10. There is no telling what she is going to do during the season :)
Mellissa Schiedenhelm's summer is paying off, she ran 25:14, over three minutes faster than last year.
Judith Young ran a 26:15, another improvement this year. She is looking to secure a Varsity spot before the end of the season.
Rachel Enerson ran a 26:39 which is almost four minutes faster than last year. And, she got to race as we were on the starting line. No time for warm-up or stretching. Perhaps we could have seen a sub 26.
Casey Siena ran an amazing 30:04, she is gaining confidence with every race. We are so proud of this young lady's effort.
Kristi Niece ran a new Personal Best by a minutes. Kristi ran a 31:12! She has been working so hard and we expect her to break 30:00
Of course we are very proud of all of our runners. Keep up the great work! With so many runners this season, I tried to keep the reading material short and highlight some outstanding performances.
The 13th Annual Camp Big Dawg was a huge success! We had the pleasure of hosting Winder-Barrow High School from Winder, Ga. We showed them that Florida is tough.
Coach and I want to thank all of the athletes who worked hard. This is going to be a great season.
