About Our Team

PRIDE is on the line in 2009!

The jaguars track team hopes to have a break out season in 2009. We are in contention for county, conference, district, and regional boys championships this season. They also hope to win the 3rd Annual PSL Invitational, which will include State Runner-Up Miami Carol City on opening weekend. That meet will be March 7, 2009 and will include 24 schools.

We will return all three state qualifiers this season. Matt Smith, who competed at states in the long jump, returns for his senior season. He is also a speedy 400m runner, who may make the jump to the 300m hurdles this season due to his long stride length. He is also a solid long and triple jump competitor. Tim Upton, who competed at states in the triple jump, returns for his junior season. He is one of the rare athletes who is solid in 4 individual events and hopes to be a multi-event state qualifier in 2009. Look for Tim to be in contention for a state title in the Triple Jump. Albert Wilson, who finished 8th in the state in the 300m Hurdles, returns for his junior season. He has the 5th fastest time in the state coming into the season. Albert was one of only 2 underclassmen to reach the State finals in the event. The other is Neaman Wise from Lake Brantley, who currently has the states fastest time. Also, the relay teams all look to be in contention to qualify for the state finals. Last season the boys' 4 x 400m team finished 5th in the region and only .43 seconds away from qualifying. Therefore, pride is on the line in 2009 for the Jaguars.

The girls team will look to rebound in 2009 with the help of several juniors this season. Although it may take some time for the girls' team to come together, look for the Lady Jags to come on strong toward the end of the season. This will be the first time in many years the Lady Jags aren't returning any state qualifiers from the previous season. They will be looking for someone to emerge as the team leader, who will help the team get points in big meets. The top events this season look to be the 4 x 100m and 4 x 400m relay teams.

Stay tuned for up-to-date information once the season gets underway.
