Lott Succeeding At South Plains, Captures Four NJCAA Indoor National Championships

Four for four. Those are Pine Forest alumni and current South Plains College sophomore Darroneshia Lott's statistics from the NJCAA Indoor National Championships. Lott anchored the school's winning DMR and then took home individual golds in the 1,000, 3,000, and mile. Her performances led the Texans to another national title for the powerhouse program. In her time at the Levelland, Texas school she has won a national championship in cross country, the half marathon and now four indoor events. Now that the indoor season is finally over, Lott has her eyes fixated on the next task, outdoor. Lott boasts very impressive personal bests of  2:08.61 (800 meters), 4:58.18 (one mile), and 9:45.52 for 3000 meters. She says her time at South Plains has been a great learning experience both academically and athletically.

"All and all I've learned no matter where you go you make the best of it. Constantly grinding and staying humble and hungry can get you far with running."

At the conclusion of her final season at South Plains, Lott plans to continue her running career at the next level. With such success, there are a lot of schools in the recruiting mix. She says she has been in contact with the University of Florida, University of Kentucky, University of Alabama, and Ole Miss. Could we see Lott back in Florida? Will she pick one of those four SEC schools? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure. Whoever gets Darroneshia Lott will be getting a winner.
