The top athletes in the county gathered at Out of Door Aacademy in Sarasota for the Sarasota County Championships. Check out all the action, results, and some awesome photos from RGreg6845.
On the girls side, Gabrielle Falco of Sarasota Riverview had a big day. She tallied 26 points for her team after winning the long jump and 100 meter hurdles, and finishing third in the 300's. Her teammate Charisa Powell started her day off with a win in the triple jump and went onto take the 200 title and finish third in the 400. Jammeria Higdon of Sarasota High School was the fastest girl at the meet running 12.56 to win the 100 meter dash. She also won the quarter mile and finished second in the 200 meter dash.
Riverview dominated the team standings with an incredible 229 points. Northport was second with 104.5 and Sarasota High School rounded out the top three with 98 points.
