Marvin Bracy Special Guest At Englewood Track Club Event

Professional sprinter and Florida great Marvin Bracy will be coming to Englewood to speak to the Englewood Elite Track Club and any and all spectators. The event  is Saturday, June 15th at 2:00 p.m. at Ann Devers Memorial Park. The event is FREE and open to the public.

Bracy was the fastest sprinter in the United States during his time in high school and many times has had the national leading time in the 100 meter dash. He ran a 10.05 100 meter dash during his high school career which was one of the fastest times ever ran in all conditions. Upon graduating from Boone High School, he received a scholarship to play football and run track for Florida State University. He recently left FSU to focus on track full-time and signed a pro contract with Adidas.

Marvin will be sharing his story, along with giving running advice. Anyone who is interested will be able to have their picture taken with him, which will be uploaded online for free. Also, if you would like an autograph he will be signing after the event. He says its a great opportunity to interact with the community.

"I decided to go because I saw it as my first opportunity to tell my story to people that are willing to come out and hear it. It's nice to just get it off of your chest. I also see it as being helpful to all of the up and coming kids in that community."

For event organizer Danny Duncan it is the second time he has brought an elite athlete to Englewood. Earlier in the year, pro triathlete and one of the best prep distance runners of all time Lukas Verzbicas stopped by to share his story and interact with the kids. Duncan believes this is an opportunity for his track club as well as the community to meet one of the best sprinters the high school ranks has seen in Marvin Bracy.

"It's always cool to have the kids interact with athletes like Marvin, humble and willing to give back. He is someone who has a lot of knowledge about the sport and can influence many people just by showing up and speaking. Everyone heard Verzbicas' story, so now I wanted them to hear Bracys. I want every athlete to learn something, get motivated and continue to work hard every day."
